Looks great mate, I bought one of those ariels from halfords to, I ended up taking it apart just using the long strip which is mounted up under the top dash rail (+ an added arial wire inside the door rubber) with the majority of the arial cable, so you can't see it.

Thanks Alex

So you got rid of the powered bit?

I have wired mine up to a spare switched 12v left over from re-wiring the Radio and In Car PC.

I just read through your blog on building the system.

Very interesting.

Thanks Ben - I have too many projects on the go!! Just about to go out to the garage and weld up a frame for a Robot using an old powered invalid chair. May end up being a DALEK but I have tried to calculate the costs in advance this time and currently it will just be a working chassis :-)

I have just been looking through my phone - keeps telling me its running low on storage - still got about 3 years worth of photos on it, many of which are from this project. When I look back at what I have done I keep thinking - What the Hell!!!

Still she (Dolly) is on the road and I love getting her out for a drive - Beaulieu here I come (FINALLY).

Love this interior, the Ipad dash looks great!

Puts me in mind of the Remastered Mini David Brown Automotive have just announced.

Think I prefer your DIY approach though!

I also had one of those widescreen mounted aerials. Connected it up and worked fine with the cable duct taped to the a pillar. But as soon as I rerouted the cable down inside the a pillar along with the front to rear loom, it picked up nothing but static. So as I didn't really want some messy wires taped to the side of the windscreen, I went back to using the old one on the front wing.

Yeah got rid of the power bit all together, it didn't make any difference at all.

Wow, what a long road you have been travelling to get to your current stage, great dedication that is being rewarded with a mini you have built.

Finally got the door cards on. Actually I was told to get on with it by the missus  :proud: She is coming to Beaulieu with me and said it needed to be finished!!

I lost the photos of making the door cards, cutting and sticking on the carpet underlay but here is a pic of the card finished before fitting:

IMAG8018_zpsusoim3tg.jpg

I used HomeBase spray glue to fix the underlay to the board and the vinyl to the underlay. Then a staple gun around the edges.

I gaffer taped up all the main holes in the door:

I dug out my clips from Mini Spares:

And put all the clips in:

I made a bit of a mistake with the first door card. I didn't mark the holes for the door handle and had a mare trying to locate the screw holes so on the second one I placed the handle in position.

And here it is fitted:

My foam was much too thick (9mm) and the handles were a bit tight and the surround for the door lock does not fit in so I may have to drill it through and use some self tappers.

The doors don't rattle now.

I didn't actually get any pics of your car, but was good meeting you and seeing it in the flesh.
