Why what suggestions do you have....?

been a while just, no other suggestion, just trying to work out why you choose the 4 pin diffy. Is it just for smoother running?

how are you getting on with your welding, becoming a proffessional??

understood, and makes sence although the 4pin comes at a price,...still, it is cheaper then getting a new gearbox!

Cheers

Hi Guys soz for the late replay, I have been on a mini vacation to no ware basically sitting at home doing absolutely nothing...

I chose to go the 4pin route because of all the broken diff stories floating around and with the amount of money I am going to spend on the restoration a £120 part isn’t going to break the bank. :shifty:

Have been busy on the mini though building up a rotisserie for the sandblasting guys . I will be posting some pics later.

nice spit there Lourens, does it turn easy? and are you able to turn it on it's side and secure it with a locking pin so you can weld on the belly?

It actually turns very easy, and I mounted a bracket with a securing hole and pin to keep it in place. >_<

Hi Guys

Here is a small update on the Electroplating process that illustrates the difference between a "raw" trunnion and one that has been plated for 6 hours and mirror polished; I also included two examples at the deferent stages of plating.

Posted Image

The first one is raw... "old and rusty"

The second one has been acid bathed for 6 hours and plated for four hours and left to dry.

The Third one has been acid bathed for a second time and re-plated for four hours.

The last one was acid bathed for a third time and plated four six hours and then mirror polished with a Dremel.

So basically a lot of waiting but the result of all that time and effort is well worth it!!!

O and I messed around with my brakes last night....

Hmm electroplating, fantastic job there, so the more you plate it the better, I do like the last trunnion, will have to invest in a kit at some point this year for my next project.
Some serious calliper you got there, Where about in SA are you?

Silver lakes is not a town or suburb you bread crum.

He is in Pretoria, South Africa.

Looks good. And I love the welding on that spit you have there! Wonder who did it?

Hi Guys

Firstly Silver Lakes is a suburb Wheel-spin Willy. It’s got its own postal code...!!!!

Secondly you welded the centre round-bar part of the spit and I welded the rest.

Thirdly... When are you bringing those parts around to be electroplated?

Glad we got that sorted.... :P

O and one more pic of me plying with my brakes...
