Hi all, :) my name is Lourens and I have owned my classic mini from the age of 16. I restored her once before while I was still in school and relying on my parents for funding, only now I can do it properly with my own money, and somehow that’s worse... :P

Back to the car, she is called Gien , and she was fitted with a 1360cc A-series GT block during the first restoration.

She's got 7.5” brakes on her as well as some 10" Mini Lites as well as a 40 Weber carb.

Now that’s all going to change... To give you guys an idea of what I am on about here are some of the new parts I ordered...

Just because you asked so nicely...

This is the work we have done so far on the shell to get it stripped and ready for blasting and primer, before we start fitting everything again and then stripping her again for final paint and finish.

Posted Image

After the photo was taken I constructed a rolling steel frame to get the shell mobile as to move it in and out of the garage...

Posted Image

O and the garage was finished that same week.

Myself and my mate Wian also stripped out the sub-frames and with the help of another buddy Dawie we took out the A-series
Posted Image

Posted Image

After that it was easy, we just removed the door and the small fittings and got busy with two grinders and abrasive wheels on the interior...

With the work done I was left with a garage full of mini

Thx. We also stripped the subbies and the disc drives that led me to order the new brakes and a restored sub-frame set that’s been blasted and powder coated. (more on that later)

Here are some photos of the subbies, drums and discs.

well this looks all very interesting, I do admire someone who builds a garage just for doing his mini up!! Pictures a great, will keep an eye out following your tread.
A question, "electroplating kit"... where does one get one of those from?

Cheers

excellent, so the last picture of the trunnion looks great and well clean,...maybe this is a stupid question but is that the finished product, or will it be shiny-chromed next?
