You make door fitting look easy!

If only Rich. That took a long time yesterday to get that in a reasonable place. I even dropped the skin down on the frame by 1/4" as the original position would have made it too high up the frame.

Nice work. Any chance of when you do the passenger door you can show the technique for using a hammer and dolly to flatten the skin lip.

I look at that last picture and instinctively think something's wrong as it just doesn't look right. Then I realise how odd it looks to see a mini side on with near perfect door gaps .........

I like your approach of gapping the rear edge before fitting the A panel. It makes a lot of sense because you're not trying to fit the door on two sides at once. :)

Door fitting was definitely the most difficult job on the whole bodywork for me. Looking back I spent almost a year doing it on and off!

I learnt that lesson after all the work I did on Scotts doors on Project Erm Rich. That was a proper trial and error session but doing it this way does make thing a bit easier. Let's see what happens when I come to bolt the front end on.

Its called Frosts Cold Front and helps to minimise distortion.

Yah back on the job again. Bloody kitchen took forever and today we just found out the company we bought the kitchen off is now out of business. Close call for us again. Just a shame i could not order the bespoke back panel but i have a plan B.

Anyway back to Paddy, had to turn him round again so the door faces into the workshop. Its a pain on your own and this time i have decided to leave him on the trolley while i skin this door.

So after everything else has been replaced i trial fitted the old door first just to make sure the bugger still fitted and yup it was not bad at all.

It fits so happy days so on with the strip. So it went from this

to this

Its as bad as the other side so no surprises really. The welding starts tomorrow.
