Steering rack mount now welded in and dressed
Onto the inner wing, so first thing was to make a quick jig for location
The new inner wing section which is OE
Then off it came
Mmm rusty bits which was not unexpected
so bits had to be removed
Now for the process of repairing it all

Nice repairs, did you get that inner wing from bingley as I saw one there, it was on a stand with a full mk1 side panel.

Todays effort. First was the crossmember end as it was badly pitted, so cutout damage
Not too bad inside so some localised cleaning up followed by Deox and then it was onto fabbing repair plates. The inner wing gusset / stiffener was badly pitted behind so this was replaced along with a new shock mount internal stiffener and of course the repair insert for the crossmember
Crossmember completed
and the shock mount internal stiffener
then it was onto the old radiator cowl which i wanted to reuse so off it came and not happy days
Its toast so need to order one monday from Somerford Mini. None in stock with Minispares. And a quick trial fit of the replacement inner wing
That will get welded in tomorrow.

Very happy with that so now to finish the l/h side of the car. Time for the jacking point and then the sill
Sill will go on tomorrow and then i will be using some of Project Erms old floor for some repairs

Looking great mate
Nice to see your recycling some of your lads car
What's the process you use to get the welds dressed down ... the repairs look seamless mate
Hats off to you bud
Cheers Marco, I knock the welds down with a slitting disc edge on then flush off and polish with a 2" and 3" roloc disc. The heavier welds i use a flapper disc but have to be careful as they will take more off than you need.

Superb work, your standard and explanations is an inspiration to many on here, me included. I have my front end to tackle soon and hopefully can get to a similar standard
Cheers Daz
