Bonnet hinge mounts welded in place
Then it was onto the top of the flitch
Happy with that, just a few final tweaks and jobs a good un.

Its been nearly two months since i burnt some metal on Paddy so on we go.
I had seen some bulging previously on the bottom of the l/h flitch and toeboard. So here's the first find after removing part of the bottom of the flitch
Lots of pitting so it had to go
and this was what was lurking under the return
So once that was welded in place the lower section of the flitch was tacked in place
Then welded up and ground back
Then it was onto the next piece so off it came
That will be sorted out tomorrow
Then it was onto the lower return on the toeboard, more bulging plus the rear mount for the subframe was crusty so off it came and left with this
and the rust lurking under the return

Been waiting for an update on Paddy
Looking good Neil
I seem to be mirroring your repairs on my car ......... ☺️ Spooky
Its a ballache to be honest, so much to do on this toeboard. Once this side is finished i have to remove the steering rack mount and replae most of the toeboard behind there as well. Oh the flippin joys.

You gotta love minis mate
I was wondering how I was going to follow the shape of the floor ..... I'll section it out like you have done
Those door steps I had off you were great crackin fit ......Cheers
Glad they worked for you, a nice shiny pair are residing on Paddy and i need to talk to Alan to get some more made. Sectioning out can work well and in some cases its the only way.

Nice repairs as usual, it is amazing how rust hides in the seams, I found my toe board one of the most awkward areas so far, the shape looks simple but once you start trying to make the patches realise it is not.

That is an impressive rebuild you are performing.
The Mini will be even better than when it left Longbridge.

On with the toeboard / subbie mounting repair. Lots of cutting and shaping later we ended up with this
and after some burning metal we ended up looking like this
Well pleased with that so it was time to finish the other part of the return i removed yesterday and it ended up like this
Now im currently tidying up inside the footwell so should have that finished tomorrow ready for the other side on monday.

After a bit of titivating etc the repairs came up like this
Then it was onto this issue next
Badly pitted and the mount was not that clever either so off came the steering rack mount
and the inside of the mount
so after a serious dose of wire brushing and some Bilt Hamber Deox treatment we ended up with this
Monday the rust in the toeboard will be attacked.

Some nice repairs there mate
When do you think it will be ready for paint ?
Mark
Good question Mark, i need to see how things go over the next three months. We have an impending shift change that may affect the amount of time i can spend working on him.
