Final bits done at the back of the car today. First thing was to finish off welding the gaps in the rear valance closeouts

This is the l/h one but the right hand side was the same

IMG_4471_zpscg9e2pnj.jpg

Gap welded up

IMG_4472_zpsmeysxs8h.jpg

R/h side done as well

IMG_4470_zpsjukmgajr.jpg

Battery clamp captive nut welded in place

IMG_4469_zpsljmzdljm.jpg

and then it was onto the fuel pipe holes salvaged from the old boot floor

IMG_4468_zps0gwjkwdz.jpg

IMG_4473_zpsuari4roz.jpg

IMG_4474_zpspzg8umh1.jpg

IMG_4475_zpsqd3g7606.jpg

Welded up the last of the skin pin holes so all thats left to do now in the boot is the fuel tank bracket and captive nut. This will be done later on.

Down to the nitty gritty of the inner sills. First thing was to remove the Ziebart coating that's been on for 41 years. So the r/h side of the floor done.

IMG_4477_zpsfofre3zy.jpg

and the l/h side still to do

IMG_4478_zpshlr71mci.jpg

this then highlighted several things, firstly the steering rack mount, this is quite crusty on the toeboard area so that will have to come off in the very near future

IMG_4479_zpssndtwlar.jpg

and then this lower flitch return has started to bulge so that will need to be sorted.

IMG_4480_zpsetws9phf.jpg

So off came the inner sill

IMG_4484_zpsfn1rhbnh.jpg

IMG_4481_zpsgcnlghy4.jpg

IMG_4482_zps1vvhjnoz.jpg

IMG_4483_zps9whoptr9.jpg

So all ready for the new inner sill. One small issue it wont go in due to the returns on the heelboard and flitch so had to do this

IMG_4485_zpsfimqnd5f.jpg

not what i really wanted to do but needs must.

Hi Neil,

I'm in the process of carrying out the same job on the boot floor. Would you be able to measures the diameter of the 2 fuel pipe holes? My mini is cursty in that area and so I can't be sure of the dims.

thanks

Chris

IMG_4494_zpsgnxfznt6.jpg

Inner sill in and ground flush both sides. Just a few bits to tweak at the heelboard end and toeboard. That leaves the heelboard subframe bracket to weld in place.

IMG_4495_zpsrpjy2uic.jpg

IMG_4496_zpssauvgfdh.jpg

flashed over with epoxy primer

IMG_4498_zpso7gjg0ou.jpg

and the inside

IMG_4499_zps9jw3bmg8.jpg

IMG_4500_zpskorlsnqw.jpg

a few hours should finish that off
