I'm going to be fitting a full boot floor to my project soon so it will be interesting to see how its done. Will defiantly be following!

If you have a look at the Project Erm link at the bottom you will see what i did to change the boot floor on that.

I also need to decide whether or not to delete the pressing on the new inner wings too.

I want to but don't like cutting up new panels.

I know that's the problem you face with using later panels on the older cars. i wanted the early boot floor but Heritage no longer supply them. Never mind its not impossible. That pressing on the wings i take it is the one on the flitch?? came across that on Wills Mini Special. Had to change both sides so it looked the same.

On :Paddy when i did the lower flitch repairs i flattened that out.

yeah the ones on the flitch.

I am thinking about cutting down one side and across the top and bottom, flatten it out with a hammer and dolly and then trim the overlap and weld back up.

But then again i am replacing both inner wings so they will be the same, just not correct for the year.

Decisions, Decisions

To be honest unless you are entering the car into concourse i would not bother. The fact you are replacing both means at least they will be the same. Again if the car was seriously rare then i would consider doing what you said.

Big moment for Padster today, engine now out and front subbie. Cheers to my mate Paul for helping out

Just the rear one to do tomorrow. On another note found a decent powder coater in Eastbourne so thinking about a very dark blue for all of the subbies and other external bits.

It was a pleasure to work on a Mini for a change!! Paddy came apart very gracefully. It's nice to have the proper gear too!

Looking good, ill follow as this is the exact same spec as my 72 clubman... mine in a very bad state by comparison but ill follow to see where this goes :D are you looking to put it back to concourse standard spec ?

No not concourse as I want to use him and show him. He will be pretty much the same as he is now although a 1293 on twins will be under the bonnet. The interior and everything will be the same as it is currently but subtle improvements will be made.

Today was a remove the interior and rear subframe so after the seat were out i could see the extent of the damage to the rear bulkhead. A tad bulging

IMG_3654_zpskhca5rwg.jpg

IMG_3653_zpsqpdgb8ng.jpg

A bit of tender loving care with a club hammer and a block of wood has tweaked it back. Once the floor is out it will get some proper panel beating done.

Then it was onto the subframe, not a bad job to do and ended up with this

IMG_3655_zpse2uszsog.jpg

I do think this was the original subbie as well as there was what looks like a the original padding on top and front of it

IMG_3656_zps1ocaggj8.jpg

IMG_3657_zpsisio7cts.jpg

IMG_3666_zpsavy55y7w.jpg

The only drawback with this is the rust has taken hold not only on the floor but the heelboard as well, gutted.

IMG_3662_zps5o7u5qhj.jpg

IMG_3663_zpstykbqoyl.jpg

IMG_3664_zpsx2twbilg.jpg

The heelboard although not perforated is badly pitted so its got to go

IMG_3658_zpslty4cxny.jpg

Then subframe if original is not too bad but will not be refitted, got a brand spanking new Rover one to fit instead.

Yup, full boot floor, rear panel to the window, valance. closeouts, fuel tank support, both quarter panels, both fwd closeouts and now that i'm doing the heelboard both outer sills again.

Still not quite sure if i'm going to replace the inner sills. There was some pitting when i changed the outers 4 years ago. Both door steps to be replaced, repair to one A post flange. Both wings and front panel. Oh and re skinning both doors and re skinning the boot lid as well so nothing much to do. Oh i might do the scuttle as well.

Basically this is going to be a one hit wonder so its all or nothing. The bodywork will be to show standard, well thats the plan anyway.
