Well day one of stripping Paddy down for his full on resto so tucked up in the workshop
Then onto some of this
I decided to chop the loom out of the lights as its all a bit cobbled together so its £160 for a complete loom which will be the sensible way forward considering his age. But delving a bit deeper i found these little beauts and surprised the lights actually worked
So another reason to change the loom.

Another cold day in the workshop which makes it rather uncomfortable to say the least. Engine is just about ready to come out, just the roll pin to knock through on the gear linkage undo the engine mounts and drop the oil.
meanwhile at the back of the car it was time to strip the rear end to see what exactly is hiding under the rather poor repair.
Seriously wrinkled, how could this be classed as a repair
and here
and then to top it all off when they replaced the hinge panel they even trapped the wiring loom tangs between the panels
the panel was not even fitted well at all
and then there is the rear bulkhead with a very large dent in it
Shame really as all of the boot area looks rust free, mark you once i strip off all of the stone chip and sealant in the boot may reveal something else.

Do you think the dent in the bulkhead might have been caused by the spare wheel being shunted forward in the crash?
That floor repair looks typical of heat it up and hit it with a hammer

Yep the bulkhead was defo hit by the spare wheel, i'm hoping it will beat out but if not then it will get replaced. no messing around making repair section just a straight replacement. As to the boot floor its worse than it looks. It really is properly bodged. Still not to worry it wont be there for very long. I'm hoping to chop the lot out next week. Rear panel comes tomorrow from Minispeed.

I'm being stupidly meticulous with the stripping, everything bagged and tagged. Starting a box of parts to be powder coated and just thinking how i want everything to look post rebuild.
Got to start my wish list from DSN as well. Panel wise apart from the rear bulkhead i have got everything else BUT i'm not sure whether to bite the bullet and replace the scuttle. Once the wings are off (saving these for another clubby build i will be doing) i will have a better look. Heritage have had a VERY big chunk of cash from me.

I wish i had been more meticulous with my bagging and tagging but as the car was partially stripped/had bits missing when i got it and what was there was very corroded, i didn't bother.
When i do another Mini, i will get a complete unmolested but just rusty example in need of a restoration and then i will bag and tag everything properly.
Heritage are not cheap but i'm assuming this is a do it one and do it properly job.

Yes it is Ben, i will be picking the bones out of this one. I wont say money is no object but mechanically it will be looked after, paint wise it will be done by myself and my mate Paul.

Are you going to modify the seat base to earlier spec or keep it like that?
This is something i can't decide on mine

To be honest i have not even thought about that Ben , i have to get the fuel tank support and modify the hole for the fuel pipe but other than that nothing else. I do have to add the fuel tank strap captive nut as its a different set up on these to the later cars. Oh and the earth point captive nut as well.

I'm going to be fitting a full boot floor to my project soon so it will be interesting to see how its done. Will defiantly be following!

I also need to decide whether or not to delete the pressing on the new inner wings too.
I want to but don't like cutting up new panels.
