blimey, some nicely hidden rust in there, looks like a prime example of a lack of seam sealer and waxoyl:P that pile of heratige panels must have cost a pretty penny, im costing pretty much the same panels up myself at the mo, im getting a sweat on!!

and those wheels look nice, better than the minisport shop soiled ones i got, but then again different colour 8) mine had bits of paint in the gap between the rim and inner wheel. but cant complain for the price

The wheels are not bad but i am thinking about re painting them again at a later date but for the price i reall cannot complain. Thanks for the heads up about them. :D

The panels were not too bad as it goes as it was a good chunk of discount that really helped.

Yes very helpful and freindly i must say. Bit of a drive for me as it took just over 3 hrs round trip but well worth it. And the discount again is worth it.

Back on the job with Paul's mainstream Cooper today. The r/h heelboard end was a lot rustier than we though once i took the reinforcing btacket off so a new end had to be fabricated
Posted Image
Tacked together from several pieces as i really needed access to a box folder, anyway once it was all welded together i ended up with this
Posted Image
Now this was the culprit and it was bad
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
and it was only held on with six spot welds, very poor.
The end of the inner sill was rotten as well so a new piece was folded up with returns and then tacked in place
Posted Image
once i get my mitts on the new bracket i will offer up the subframe to back drill through the heelboard before welding in the new bracket.

Got a bit more done today on the Cooper. Myself and Paul refitted tthe subframe to allow me to trial fit the subframe mount reinforcing bracket. Everything lined up so after some spirited welding we ended up with this

So onto the rear arch and what a complete and utter *******. What Rover was thinking or maybe one of the employees, i know as well as spot welds i'll chuck in a couple of seam welds then cover then in seam sealant. Well cheers and thanks for doing that. I was desperately trying to not to damage the inner half of the arch but in the end resorted to a cutting disc and my high speed grinder and burr.
Finally sorted but now several repairs to do and a replacement bump stop. (sorry mate :shy: )

Tis true but this was taking the michael somewhat, still nothing that a grinder, big chisel and an even bigger hammer could not cure. ;D ;D

Big up to M machine, ordered a new bulkhead to rear arch bracket yesterday late afternoon and it turned up this morning. Uber quick postage cannot fault them.

Starting the new year off re skinning two doors i don't need so if anybody is interested in two repaired and reskinned passenger doors i'm after £120 each and i can bring them to Bingley. They will be rust free as the pictures can attest to. These will appear in the for Sale section when finished.
No bottom to this one at all

New bottom section

Paddy has got his new tires now on his shiny Cooper S rims.
Posted Image

They look good but there is a fly in the ointment though. One rim has an issue where the curled lip is nearly flat on part of the rim causing the rim to appear buckled.
Posted Image
Posted Image

These are the rims i bought from Minisport and they are shop seconds. The only defects were some imperfections in the paint and the raised welding, no real issue with that and that is all that is supposed to be wrong with the rims according to the chap i rang today at Minisport. Each wheel had to be balanced with clip on weights and not stick on. One wheel needed more than 286 grams of stick on so decided to go for the clip on type instead so needed far less weight adding.

Such is life, so now have ordered another rim so the iffy one can be used as a spare.

Nice Yoko's Sonikk.

I had these on my old 850 with the wider cooper reverse rims and they'd stick like flies to paper.

Although I might go for the cut slick style this time on the van.

We have the other type on Erms split rims but they would have not looked right on Paddy. Going down the archless route here so needed Cooper S rims. Pity about the issue but can't wait to get these on him and on the road again. Soon, very soon.
