Out of curiosity, what injectors do you have installed? They look like the Seimens DEKA IV 630cc!

Hi Steve, no they are 220cc which I specifically asked for when ordering the kit. Northernpower gave me a whole list of info ref this head and the various issues.

It's looking really good, it'll be interesting to see what it makes on the dyno especially how flat you can get the torque curve. I ended up with inserts for the rocker posts as well. You may find the loom is a little short for the temp sender in the thermostat housing. I asked DSN to make one up for me with the tapped hole in the other side and combined it with their engine steady.
Mate, the issues with these heads is bloody annoying to be honest. Oz changed out the valve springs for his conical type which won’t pound the hell out of the valve seats. He also mentioned the exhaust valve were offset more than a iron head which meant more spacing for the rockers.
Anyway nearly there. Now will be hunting for a MPI fuel tank, should save messing around with fuel pumps etc. unless of course that is not a viable option?.

As I've said before the material the head is made from is great for milling but it doesn't always stand up well in service. The reason the exhaust valves are offset is to enable future development of the head to fit much bigger exhaust and inlet valves. When I spaced out the rockers it gave me a problem with clearance on the rocker cover; it wasn't noticeable until the engine was revving quite hard. I ended up grinding clearance on the inside of the cover. It's just something to be aware of when it first goes on the dyno.Mate, the issues with these heads is bloody annoying to be honest. The MPI tank and more importantly the pump is fine. The only thing to look for is some of the newer pumps seem to be less tall than the original and can leave up to a gallon in the bottom of the tank, check where yours is through the sender fitting hole. While you don't want it completely on the bottom you don't want a gallon you can't access.

So its been a while and Paddy's engine is alive.
Oz had taken it to the DAMICO dyno where he made 107bhp. The restricting factor was the standard rods plus the diff ratio. It was still climbing past 7000 rpm but it was decided to call it there. With everything i have had done i wish i had gone for uprated rods but considering Paddy is only going to be a weekend special i am more than happy. I would post the video but Imgur restricts videos to 1 min, the vid is 1min 15 secs. It sings on the dyno.
So if my future plans go ahead over the next few months my lad will be selling Project Erm and the funds from that will be ploughed into Paddy. Unfortunately Paddy's interior got attacked by rats in my lean to so a trip to Newton Commerical will be on the cards. Also a decent ECU will be on my shopping list and will more than likely now be a Fueltech item. FT450.
So a trip to wiredbywilson may be on the cards for that to be wired in.

Lovely flat torque. With regard to the rods, where do you stop with the spend for a weekend car and we can all be wise afterwards. It'll still put a big smile on your face.

I am kicking myself a bit as i ploughed a lot of money into the pistons, crank, damper etc etc but at least i know that if for any reason i need to have work done on the bottom end again i will buy a decent set of rods to make the most of the crankshaft that Oz did the business on.
And yup that torque is pretty flat from 3000 onwards.
