I bought some 'old english white' from paints4u and since spraying it on the car its obvious to see that it isn't in fact white its a more creamy color..

But i gave them the correct paint code(WT3), could a primer change the color slightly or is in just in fact the wrong color?

I just thought i would ask before i contact painst4u.

The new paint is Old English White, your car isn't. Although it's hard to tell from any photo, and yours are quite under exposed I'm afraid which makes it harder.

Agreed, it looks correct. The car looks to be something like Diamond White. Is you mini an early 80's model?

There are a few variations of old english white. WT3 is the oldest version used in the 60's then there is NDB which was used 70's and early 80's the newest version's code is NNX was used in the 90's, These dates are not stead fast but going from records on the paint computer at work (palhydro system). So it depends which variation is on your car as to the one you need. I just tapped them in to paints4u and all come up correctly as old english white so a bit of food for thought.
I have looked at the mixes for all of these and WT3 is far more creamy due to extra ochre and orange in the mix than the others if i remember correctly NDB was the least creamy of the 3 but it was about a year ago since i looked into it.
I remember seeing in a thread that paints4u can do colour matching so if you could send a small sample of the paint colour on your car they could tell you which one it was?

Hope that helps a bit.

My mini is a 1983 1000 city e.

Thanks for the post Tim ;)

Would the rear number plate light be big enough for them to get the right color?
And how do i go about doing this?
Im guessing i just email them..

Unless you are American, it is spelt colour, not color!

OTT much?
i think so.
weird to think there was 3 different mixes of old english white :\ thought with a named color they would have kept it the same to save confusion

Well my laptop tells me it's spelt wrong like 'colour' and the red lines irritate me so i just type color instead.

Not really, this is why we have paint codes. Names mean nothing, for one thing there aren't enough names! Different companies use the same name as each other for different shades because names are chosen by marketing low lives and they are all trying to appeal to the same desires. Shades change with fashion from era to era but the same names will usually still have the same effect on the customer. I think that every manufacturer uses Diamond White for example, or has done at some point and there are dozens of them. I think that might be the highest number of shades for a name. From memory I think there are at least 6 Rover Flame Reds. There are a great many British Racing Greens. French Blue is popular too.

Unfortunatley without taking a sample of the original colour to a Paint supplier - who can then Colour match it for you properly - you will be very lucky to get close to a suitable shade pre-made off the shelf, regardless of whether you can match the code tin for tin or not.....

Would the rear number plate light be big enough for them to get the right color?

Absolutely.... and clean it first.

And how do i go about doing this?

either ring them up and explain you want to send a sample for them to colour match to - or e-mail them- whatever. I assume this company is not local to you.

Paints4U are in Scunthorpe. I took my bonnet in to them and left it there so they could match it, picked it up the following weekend with a load of rattle cans of matched paint. Problem I had is that my mini had been painted some point in the past in a non Rover colour (suspected Ford Transit white!) and the previous owner didn't know what colour code it was. The result is really good and will certainly do until I'm able to get the whole car done. In the pictures below the bonnet, boot and front and rear valences have been rattle can painted, the rest is original.

I'm sure they'll be able to match from your numberplate lamp cover.
