they refused me and tried saying i was not a mini enthusiast, having spent every night from about 4-9 and every weekend working on my mini and every spare penny i have gets spent on it, to be refused and told im not an enthusiast quite rudely and made to feel like a criminal for trying to join there insurance company, what a joke!!
Eh? Since when do you have to be an enthusiast to get insurance, and how exactly would you prove/quantify being an enthusiast anyway? Or is this a case that you didn't qualify for their club discount scheme, because you weren't a member of an owners club?

i think they were just being really strict cause of my age, which is unfair as they should just tell me straight that my age is the issue, i am a member of the british mini club

We've had a letter through from FJ refusing to renew the insurance on our classic camper. They don't explain why in the letter.
However, ringing round trying to find a replacement insurer, and we've been told that apparently a few underwriters have pulled their services from FJ.
The letter was quite matter of fact, and you could easily read it as being 'sod off, we don't need your business'! We have three classic policies all coming up in the next few months, and we'll be moving them all away.

From what I can tell, this change has happened in the last couple of months or so...

It appears that as they are only underwriters some of the companies they use, Are now restricting the types of people they want to insure... Bit sad really

Weird - they're going to be losing a lot of business... Rang Peter James this morning, and we'd already got our camper that FJ had refused to renew the insurance for sorted with them. Adding Gus to the policy (as a multi-car sort of thing) and the quote is £113. Only a difference of £350!

Footman James can suck, but to be honest the whole insurance industry is inefficient, myopic and corrupted.

just started a policy with Footman James seemed pretty helpful , as i have just left sureterm insurance they were not helpful at all , had an accident in my mini and they sent my car to a main dealer for repair who then tried to write it off on the grounds it could could contain rust in the damaged area , this apparently was down to the underwriters choice and approval.......turns out that despite changing insurance company I am still insured with the same underwriter on the same terms......insurance for classic cars seems to be a minefield,

Just sorted out some insurance with FJ.
They were the cheapest around even with an air filter & exhaust declared as modifications.
15+ years NCB, limited the mileage as I will only be using it on summer weekends. £113.35 in total
