We've got cats, and the most common device for keeping them off stuff is flypaper/double sided sticky tape, and water spray. Antifreeze will be an attractive nuisance for dogs and cats in the area, and you will be found responsible should any animals drink and die.

Yes this is quite correct, legally cats are not classified as animals (unlike dogs, pigs, goats, sheep, cattle, asses and mules) They are classified as vermin, like rats and pigeons are, therefore you cannot actually legally own them or be responsible for them.

anti freeze will kill the cat and YOU will be prosecuted.

One of those statements has to be wrong.

You cant prosecute someone for killing vermin.

A simple application of water directly to the cat in question a few times will be enough. Unlike some of the idiots commenting on this thread they have a brain and learn quite quickly. If you don't have the patience for that then buy some cat repellant. Please don't drug or shoot a cat or I'll be forced to come and do the same to you.

its called animal cruelty, we have had posters put through our doors from the police because cats have been killed by some one giving them anti freeze and it says if caught YOU will be prosecuted.

think about the woman a few month back who put a cat in a bin, was she prosecuted.?

a link to a news item about it, the posters said they would be prosecuted, if its ok to kill them why have it on the news?

Cats are not classed as vermin, they are domestic animals and you can be prosecuted for causing harm to them.

The law doesn't, but the roaming nature of cats is recognised, so just as the owner isn't liable for damages cased by the cat, neither are you. Cover everything with anti climb paint and let the cat ruin their owners carpets.

if they are domestic animals then they should be contained within the owners grounds like a domestic apet should.... cat owners are disrespectful :D

when our lad was young in a buggy we had cats trying to jump up on the his buggy off walls and due to the dangers associated with having a cat urinating within a childs playing area i started making use of my fred bear compound bow and enjoyed the fact i was doing a bit of pest control..... i found nothing else works because they keep comming back.

or if you have a neighbour you don't like fill their garden with catnip haha

Well done, another topic dragged down by people who just like the sound of their own keyboards, Anti-freeze, crossbows? What sort of sick idiot would come on a public forum and brag or condone the use of such tactics?

What happened to Britain being a nation of animal lovers?

I'm an an animal lover and if I though that someone was treating my pet(a defenceless animal) in this way, I'm not sure what I would do.

Have you ever tried to train a cat? They do what they want and when they want!!

personally i would straight up kill them, if somebody wishes to own one then they should keep control of it. if its causing damage then so would i.

same as if a person touched my car to be honest.

i have a bosc monitor that can grow upto about 8 ft long, that is essentially a wild animal house trained like a cat. im sure people would get annoyed if i let him out on a night time.

my dad saw a black cat out in the garden once while bleaching something, it left the garden black and white as it jumped over the fence, wouldve probably suprised the owners when it got back
