as above really its my birthday in a couple of weeks and the need for a dremel is increasing.

all the little bits i want to do along with cleaning parts up, removing rust etc are becoming more frequent.

but does it really need to be a dremel? these things vary massively in price from £50 upwards really.
but like most things you can get other manufacturers versions from much cheaper.

i know most will say if you pay for something cheap it wont last but sometimes is essentially the same product just without the brand name.

does anyone have any experience with these, dremel or otherwise?? whats your verdict, price, quality etc?

cheers.

All I'll say is - I've used the cheap ones and they are crap. I've got a Dremel and it works, very very well and reliably.

I have a black and decker one. It's done everything I've asked of it. It's had a fair amount of abuse, we must have had it 3 or 4 years now and it's still going strong.

we use dremels at work for the GRP repairs, so i can vouch for what they can do and what abuse they can take, some of the material amounts we have to take off at work is crazy, ive also used it on ally a fair bit with no problems. there good bits of kit.

i think i will go for a dremel,
does anyone have any experience with particular models of dremels??

im not after a massively expensive one, with all the bells and whistles. just a few attachments to use on the mini for tidying bits up.

I had thee black and decker one a few years ago and soon burnt that out, I replaced it with the mid range corded dremel, fantastic bit of kit use it for all sorts, a must thought I would recommend the long flexible neck, makes jobs easier, also if you go to the pound shop they do a pack of bits with cutters etc, qualitys cr*p but for a quid what would you expect,
