"Ginger Marshall's aluminium bodied, space-framed Mini Clubman Estate leads off the line (Imp engine on a Mini gearbox), this is 1976 it is a Forward Trust up to 1000cc Special Saloon race, the 850cc Imp was on pole but didn't win."
The Imp engine mated to a Mini gearbox to challenge the Imps in the up to 1000cc class.

Re Ingliston - I looked up the circuit on google maps and it is still there albeit devoid of anything to do with racing but what surprised me was that the whole layout looks like a housing estate but with no houses!! There is a young drivers school alongside the former track and a skeletal grandstand but that`s ya lot.

I remember watching these races on BBC,s granstand on a saturday afternoon and i sat enthralled as a young boy.
Somebody should put them on a series of DVD,s as they are fantastic entertainment.
I used to sit glued to the telly watching saloon car racing and rallycross on Grandstand too and my dad always said "I can`t see anything in it myself" yet he`d happily watch 90 minutes of 22 blokes kicking a bag of wind about! I wonder what the BBC has stashed away?

This Grandstand 1970 Crystal Palace race video in link below is a recent example of what the BBC has stashed away hidden in its vaults......there are many more archived but access is only allowed for TV researchers and no copies can be made without difficult to get/expensive copyright permissions......which sadly means most of the films will never see the light of day again, unless the BBC has a change of policy.

Nostalgic old film of a sprint held at Sandtoft Aerodrome in 1966 featuring a range of 60's cars including a good sprinkling of Minis.
