looks awesome, how long until your ruining tarmac?
I want it mot'd feb/march. if Christmas wasnt round the corner id have it done! Just ordered my carbon bonnet and carbon seats so just the pedal box to hook up and 2 new tyres needed! Wirings 98% complete too
Hi mate, how hard was it to get the R1 carbs in, I have a c16se lump in my mk1 with standard injection, but want to go down the bike carb route, any help will be appreciated
Carbs were a doddle, i picked up the whole kit mind you off another forum but all you need is the carbs, an inlet manifold (mines bogg bros) and then im using a 1.4 nova dizzy/coil setup or you could use megajolt/megasquirt which il be going to in the new year. Im not sure how to do it on the C16 as there coilpack, mines the older E16, Secondscoopman over on 16v forum is your man as he has done it.
Quite an amazing project mate. Loving all the carbon fibre
Thanks!I cant wait to see how my Carbon seats turn out! i used to hate the stuff but it has grown on me and now its an addiction!
been keeping an eye on this, car is looking awesome
Thankyou, the comments iv had have helped alot when things havnt gone so well!
I'm not sure if it's a trick of the photo but it looks like your front top-mounts are on the wrong sides; it looks like your coil-overs are canted back (pointing towards the shell) rather than vertical.
Hi I see what you mean but i have checked the brackets and they are the same both sides and the mounting holes are the original plus a few extra.
Iv seen 2 more where they look the same too. Maybe i need to drill my own holes as opposed to using the original mounting holes?
Thanks for the advice

This is the main area of interest. You can see the off-set of the bolt holes:

And to put it in context:
When they are on the correct sides you can look down and all of the mounts line up...

Which means the coil-over is vertical (or near as damn it)...

Quick question - where you've cut the inner wings back, what have you put along the cut metal to round it off a bit?
Sorry folks iv been away for a while.....Grip trim from northwest-minis.co.uk is what your after
It seems a lifetime but im happy i finally got there!!!Fantastic to think you've come this far in 7 months.

Very interesting, i need to have a look and see what i can do as my driverside one seems a bit out! Thanks for the advice mate
Its Done

Anywayyyyy..collection of pics i have over the last few months, expect to be driving it around feb as i dont see the point putting it on trashing it in the crap weather
its so responsive compared to what im use to!
i still have a fast road cam to fit and the head to be polished etc but untill im use to it its staying as it is! small airleak from the manifold gasket that needs attention but runs and drives and doesnt fart about which i wasnt expecting.
