Fitted new Brake light bulbs and headlamp bulbs last night and took a few photos to see the difference and to help you guys out if your were considering replacing them.

The headlights are a standard fitment 1989 Mini City.

Brake lights only cost a few extra quid, but headlight bulbs where quite a bit more (got them on sale though)

Brakes After:

Both shots taken with the engine running.

Think you can see the extra brightness in the brake lights.

Headlights before:

Note the yellowness of the light produced

Headlights after:

Note the clearer colour of the light, as well as the increased intensity of the light.

In driving conditions, the new bulbs do make a difference. You can see further, and its a more natural light.

Hope this helps.

Another thing that really makes a difference (plus its free) is removing the lenses and giving them a bloody good scrub both inside and out. Pointless fitting new bulbs if they have to shine through lenses covered in a layer of filth.

This is a good point. Mine were surprisingly mucky on the inside too, given they are supposedly sealed.

Ive got the extra bright halfords bulbs in my mini, I think they were £20ea., but buy one get one free. Made a huge difference over my factory fit halogens. I'd be interested to see difference in the brake lights in real life, its quite hard to tell via a camera.

headlights do make a big difference, but Halfords seems expensive for bulbs though, you get a pair of xenon ones of ebay for £8, thats the same as a single standard bulb from halfords, and break lights do seem to have changed a bit, but more like a darker color ;) not saying they bad!

YEH give the lenses a good clean

The headlights are so good, and even in the day/evening they look good. Give the actually headlight a bluer colour to it as well.

Brakes lights are better, camera doesnt pick it up very well.

Id go for LED's in the rear instead.

Glad this was helpful anyway
