Still worth doing it sooner rather than later as even under cover it may get damp. The primer is porous so will offer very little protection.

It does depend on the age of the car really.

I know Paddy my Clubman who is 36 years young was originally painted underneath and then it was Ziebarted over it whether at the factory or by a third party afterwards. (Black hard wax) I used to work for a company doing this.
The subframes i believe would have been gloss black

I am sure it was just spray-painted and (hard) wax coated

2nd wood it have been sprayed black or painted the same as the car ?
Painted same color as the body paint without the polished finish(re-call what was the origional color on that car and what was the color of the innerwing, or tunnel)

3rd subframes wood thay have been painted in a mat black ?
As sonnikk4 black glossy finish

PS; when doing the rear subby area, I advise you to do a few layers with keying inbetween, once subby is on, hard to get to if paint repairs need doing, good luck this week!!

day 1of 4 of the big push

well been a good day i got the old sill step cut out and removed sum rust from the inside of the sill ,primed and fitted the new one, got the 1st skim of filler over the welds sorry forgot to take before pics .

as you can see from the pics the door skin & lower frame is full of rust,so set about cutting off the skin and lower frame lined up the new one and welded it in just needs a bit of filler over the welds , (doing that 2moza) , the new door skin fited great iam well happy with that a quick test fit on the car and it all lines up brill ( well happy) . and yes before you say it all rust removed and the lips primed up before fitting . just needs a little filler here and there were i hit it abit hard with the hammer and then sealer

orderd sum 2k high build primer and sum sealer today that will be 2moza

door looks fineish,........, does the door line-up with the rear quarter, a bit vague the picture, but looking sharpish you might have to drop it by 1-2mm, unless I am wrong,.. as you can see just above the door lock it's a bit tightish, dropping the door is not lined up 100% will cure that problem, plus it will reduce the gap between the doorstep and bottom of the door, you only need to drill the hige holes in the doorpost by 1/2 mm.
Appart from that it looks excellent, but don't rush anything at this point..... ;D

i see what you are saying mate but that quarter is full of filler , i was looking at that today . so i think i may/will dig all of that out to see what needs doin there , if its a new quarter then so be it . as for the lines door to quarter thay do line up right and i think what you may see on the door step is the flash back from the pic being takeon as that part is in bear metal but will look at that bit again 2moza . but like you say i can play with the holes a bit to help it line up better . not rushing matey honnest spent 9 long hours on that day and the same for the next 3 days ( omg what am i doin this is my holiday ) lol
