Reliant Robin driven by an old lady who can barely see over the steering wheel. On a corner or roundabout.

Not happened to me personally but I can't think of anything worse.

On the other side, I always wondered what the guy thought. Going up Loch Lomond side above Tarbet, the twisty bit, on the way to Oban one Sunday morning. Caught up with some sort of Honda Civic fuelinjected 16v hot hatch, it was written across the boot lid, in my Opel Rekord (250K+ miles on clock). So he starts giving it the boot to get away and so wait till I know the long straight is coming up and take a run of the corner. As I get the Opel alongside, I see the bonnet go up as the throttle gets pushed. Before this can speed the car up, I get the trailer and boat alongside and he promptly drops back to crawling up the road pretending he wasn't trying to get away.

this was last week and its not so much being embrassingly overtaken but a foolish attempt to out accelerate a ferrari from some lights by myself.

i gave it plenty of beans i dont think he even had to change out of first, or take his foot off the brake for that matter,

I once managed to overtake a Citroen Xantia up a hill with a '76 Clubman auto.

I was towing the Mini beind my Sierra at the time on an A-frame. The man in the Xantia looked deeply embarassed when we got to the next roundabout. I did it because he had been messing me around further back down the dual carriageway by slowing down and then pulling out or speeding up every time I was going to pass him so on that occasion the red mist descended and I just put my foot down rather than dropping back in behind him. I miss that engine - it was a 2.1 Pinto with a Kent FR34 (I think) cam and a 4-branch manifold with a 3" exhaust system. It wasn't mad loud, was a pussycat around town but had enough torque to light the rear wheels up on demand.

There used to be a Reliant Robin driving around Darwen that was painted grey and had a mouse nose and whiskers on the radiator grille. The owner had also got hold of an old roof beacon and replaced the light and spinning mirror with a big clockwork key. It really was a good impression of a clockwork mouse. It disappeared long before I started to drive but THAT would have been an embarassing car to be passed by.

I got overtaken by a MINI cooper just after i had been playing with it with my 1275 through the country lanes. I decided to 'out-do' him at the roundabout, but proceeded to break down a little further up the road in a pile of steam as my altenator bolts flew from under my car, causing my belt to break around the fan. :proud:

my mate was trying to show me his 1275 on the dual carraige way, he pulled alongside a 1.1 saxo (standard) and tried to accelerate past him to overtake. The saxo put his foot down and left us :(

N.B, not BINI bashing, was just embarresing to be overtaken by it after playing with it and breaking down
