My escort Mk5. Back axle was slightly bent which didn't help but the steering was heavy, the car under steered everywhere (20 mph in the wet and you went straight on) the pedals were vague (common occurring thing I have noticed with all fords) , it drank fuel (again common to all fords) for a 1.6 and had no power. I was forever being over taken by 1.2 litre little corsa/saxos/fiestas.

I'm sorry, but i thought my escort was a nice little car, was a 1.3 p reg and although it took 16 secs 0-60 and was in basic trim it was brilliant to drive. The slight understeer made it quite a fun car to fling around and have fun with on some private land (real private land and not 'private :xxx: land')

My list of cars is somewhat different for a 17year old

Worst was probably the Renault 5

Best has to be the AMG SLK55.

Ah my friend at college had a Renault 5. It was white with a green door and a red bonnet. We used to have to jumpstart it nearly every day as he couldnt be bothered to replace his alternator.

i have to agree here (but only to an extent), I helped a mate buy a 69 beetle a couple of weeks ago. It was a real surprise to experience how bad the brakes are, basically its all or nothing, with about 15cm of brake travel in between. Lets say his first purchase is a brake conversion kit. The stearing was also a bit roly poly. But the beetle does make up for it in different ways i suppose...... struggling to find any......i guess character goes a long way.

Has to be a Kia Ceed TR. Had a works hire car to get from Northamptonshire to the Wirral. First look you see the TR badge and a six speed gearbox. It's 300+ mile round trip on A14, M6 Toll and M53. Completely gutless, tells you when to change gear (which is whenever you go about 100rpm either side of 2000 rpm), poor handling and actually felt quite vulnerable.

Second to this is the Nissan Quashqai.

probably one of my mates daishitsu terios it was a courtesy car. took it to an old aerodrome and ended up ditching it becuase of the horrdenous understeer and hob nobs for brakes .

or

a 'k' reg defender. it was terrible gearbox was like shifting blocks of iron about with a fork and with as much throw as a HGV, brakes like hob nobs, seats are uncomforable, wipers are pants, suspension is terrible transfer box is exactly the same as the gearbox.........the list goes on

Rover mini HAHAHA

only joking!

Mine was a Ferrari Enzo. Couldn't fit my bread on the passenger seat and there was no way you could fit a body in the boot! Sold it after only 1 murder and 3 weeks of owning it, leather wipes clean well though.

I went to Namibia last year. Over there they have a number of new cars which actually are just old European cars, things like MK1 Golfs and the old square Toyota Corolla. The one we ended up with was without exception the worst car ever designed and/or built. It was a Mazda 323 1.3 Sting of unknown year but looked to be approximately 80's or 90's in design. It basically rattled it's way around Namibia for 5 weeks and 10,000 KM and basically cooked any passengers. There were holes in the dash and door cards so if you were following anyone on a dirt road the dust would come through the holes and fill up the inside. When we handed it back there were gouges taken out of the chassis and underside of the body where we'd hit rocks and berms on dirt roads. It took a crack commando cleaning unit over an hour to clean it before we gave it back.

It was truly awful.

Just for your information the muck on the front is actually mainly dead flies with a bit of dust added for good measure. That car caused so many arguments it was unreal. I genuinely came very close to leaving one of our party in the middle of the desert!!!

It was one of those cars that was so bad it actually became quite funny by the end of the trip. On the plus side it only broke down once in the entire time.
