these people listing normaly decent cars...im guessing either the cars shagged or uv not driven alot of cars before....mainly thinking the person who mentioned the new fiesta....guessing it was a below base spec special version?

I've drove plenty of cars thanks. And yes, it's a bottom spec 1.4 Diesel i was talking about.

chill whinston, just the idea i saw that a new car, one that were currently working on at work which is apparently spost to handle well as standard, but its a ztec model and being built into a rally car so recieving over 3k's work of dampers on to assist an already quite good chassis...still using standard rear beam, all be it with different mounts and standard anti rollbars

Just got a brand new pool car from work.
I am the first to bring it home (tonight, its on the drive outside) Its a 60 plate Volvo S80 (only had 31miles on it when I collected it, its almost got 100 on it now)

Its not the worse car ive ever driven, by far. But theres something about it....
The interiors just a bit... Swed. Its clunky and to purposeful. There is extream smartness to it but no flare or character.
The exterior is a different kettle of fish though! I rather like it. And the engine pulls like a train!

I take it that it's not the 1.6 Diesel DrivE model then?

I get the feeling that a 1.6 diesel in a car that big, with 110bhp would feel pretty pedestrian? I could be wrong though.

I've thought of another horrible car I've driven, it was the car I learned to drive in, a gutless 1.1 106 independence in 'firedance' (read - gay orange!)

Posted Image

Honestly, it was hateful, I hated the way the clutch pedal arm was welded on the side of the pedal instead of behind because the foot wells are too small to accommodate normal size pedals, I hated the feeling that it's very nose heavy and the back wheels may as well be just say touching the road, I hated how numb the steering was, I hated the useless brakes, I hated the way the clutch had next to no feel, (not just because it was a learner car, I've driven a couple of Sax's and 106's since and they all have a horrible clutch with no feel) I hated the comedy amounts of body roll even at low/learner speeds. Did I mention it was gutless? The amount of gas you gave it in 4th or 5th resulted in zero difference to road speed at all, 5th gear you had to keep your foot buried right in the carpets just for it to stay at motorway cruising speeds the seats were unsupportive and gave me back ache after half an hour or so, a feat only ever bettered by a Maruti 800 I was in in Cyprus, (google it!). I suppose the only good thing I found about it was that it wasn't my car and once I passed my test, would never have to drive one ever again, although as said, I've driven a couple.

Mini.

:)

Also the best car too. When they work properly.

When they're playing silly buggers or some BLEEP has modded them badly, then they are little hounds. Total rotters.

Actually, the other half's fiesta ST comes a veeeeeeery close second. Maybe even AS good? :)

no so much the worst car, its quite well built, comfy and well equiped!!
BUUUUT, my Renult Traffic from work has the WORST gearbox in the history of time!
i know the french arn't renowned for their gb's but this takes the ....!
its one of the semi auto type things! so can b used as a manual or auto.
in auto its simply useless, sat at a roundabout, foot on brake, gap comes, foot onto accelorater.... waiting..... waiting... BANG... it jerks forward, n the space has gone! on motorway driving its ok. it doesnt have to change gear, as soon as you get on A roads though, its never in the gear it should be, you go to overtake a car, flick it down a gear, hard on the pedal, n it decides to go for a sec or two then change up a gear again!!! thus loosing all power and leaving you stranded!! had a goood one the other day, coming off motorway onto slip road, so it was in 6th, breaking for roundabout at end of slip road... breaking... breaking harder...still in 6th.... standing on brake pedal now... still in 6th! honestly dint think it was going to stop!!

then there is the "manual" option.... well, if in your opinion is a manual that you still have no choice in what gear you put it in!!! it jumps out, changes up/down as and when it wants....

yeah just hate it!!

although im sure if it had a proper manual gearbox, it would be lovely!

My Step-Dad has a Vauxhall Movano which is the same as the Traffic. Even down to the engines. Its done 100k and has had two new manual gearboxes. So to answer your question. No. The manual is no better!

1.2 'New' Corsa. Worst car I've ever owned. Handled like a washing machine, had twitchy over assisted power steering, drunk fuel like a Russian sailor downing vodka and to top it all was 100% the slowest car I've ever driven. Fortunately at least the interior was, eh, actually no, it was horrid plastic crap too.

I was never happier to get shot of that 'car'.

Worst car for me is our family Vauxhall Zafira, I knew the handling wasn't going to be great, but this thing is like driving a ferry around the bends.
Plus it has an underlining fault that Vauxhall wont admit to, which is the clutch gets moisture on it making it a pig to get get the biting point (making you look like an idiot bunny hopping or reving the nuts off it)

but the seating poisition is like something out of a landrover compared to my mini which is more like a reclining bed than seats.

Now now, some people own land Rovers :xxx:

First instructors car was a 2009 Peugeot 207 diesel and that was practically dead. It couldn't even go up small hills in fifth, had to change down all the time, wouldn't accelerate quickly, brake pedal was a switch 'off' and 'almost on' and the steering was so light past on country roads. And it was uncomfortable.

Second instructors car was a 2009 Fiesta Diesel Titanium and that was ok as it was low mileage and not worn out when he got it BUT the steering was again too light on the A46 and it had a silly anti-stall thing which would rev itself when you didn't want it too if manouvering and the indicator stalk was very notchy and gave a horrible noise as if it was broken. Overall it was reasonable but had really horrible traits.

However, easily at the top as those two were learner cars, a "friends" Daweo Matiz  . An 850 magic wand box feels more positive than it did, steering too light, clutch was a guess and it had no power and an unpredictable brake pedal. Mind you, it had done 100,000miles. Horrid little shoebox!!

Not strictly true, if they've been driven hard and not had the gearbox oil changed every once in a while then yes, then can go wrong, and quite a few do. I have a Vivaro, (I'm guessing you mean Vivaro not Movano as the Movano is the bigger one again) and if the service history is to be believed, and I have no reason to doubt it as it came with a load of printouts from the owner, (large cleaning comany with a large fleet) then it is still on it's original gearbox and clutch and it's done almost 118k on an '04 plate. The gearbox is a little reluctant to engage first on a very cold day, (i'm talking 0 degrees) but once you've driven a few miles, it's fine and they are a very nice feeling gearbox, good gear ratios too. I think it may be due for a gear oil change.

The only problem I've had with the gearbox was the stupidly designed cable gear linkages. There's a nylon ball & cup arrangement on the gearbox end of the cables that wear, mine popped off when I went to change down from 5th gear pulling into my street so ad to ease it round to my house in 5th, not good slipping the clutch at 10mph! The ones I had replaced weren't fitted properly due to a muppet of a mechanic so broke within 6 months. 3rd set were fitted properly and have been fine since.

minibarnerz - I'm glad I've read that about the semi auto in the Trafic/Vivaro etc as when the time comes to replace my van, I would have been looking for a 2.5CDTI Vivaro with the semi auto. I think I'll stick with the manual now!

Worse thing I ever drove/owned was a '95 Series 1 Discovery 300 Tdi.

The most hateful, slow, noisy, cumbersome pile of poo I've ever had the misfortune to drive.

By the way, I love our Ka. It handles and drives brilliantly, not quite as good as the minis but still sees off BMWs on roundabouts :xxx: As said, a lot to do with having good tyres.

The worse car I have ever driven? Ummmm.....

Has to be one of the following:

City rover. My mum had it as a courtesy car when her focus went wrong. No power, built badly, and the list goes on. My mum hated it so much she decided to use my mini for two days as I wasn't, while her focus was being fixed.

Focus Mk 1. Steering is vague, pedals are vague and they drink fuel. Petrol is slightly better than the diesel (had the displeasure of driving both) as you don't lurch to a stop when you come off the accelerator.

My escort Mk5. Back axle was slightly bent which didn't help but the steering was heavy, the car under steered everywhere (20 mph in the wet and you went straight on) the pedals were vague (common occurring thing I have noticed with all fords) , it drank fuel (again common to all fords) for a 1.6 and had no power. I was forever being over taken by 1.2 litre little corsa/saxos/fiestas.

206 1.9 diesel. Gearbox was terrible. As for power it was wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, change gear. No turbo, no power. My friends Hugh's 1.9 hdi was no better.

Saxo vts. The brake and accelerator pedals are too close together. You end up pushing both at the same time.

(I am not bini bashing here, this is just my opinion). New MINI 1.4 diesel. Urghhh. My 16 year old isuzu diesel powered astra has more power and more feeling through its pedals. Why anybody would spend so much on one for a car that drives like that I don't know.

Mk1 fiat Punto. Bit unfair really on this one but the driving position really annoys me. Quite a bit of power for an 8v 1.2.

If I had to choose I think it would have to be the 206's I have driven.

As for every body who knocks the Ka's. I have driven quite a few friends and have noticed that the older lower specked ones seem to be better. They don't have power assist on them. I personally think for such a small car it isn't needed and when added to them it kind of ruins them.

I stand by it though. In my opinion the worst 'car' I have ever driven.
