had a few hours of this afternoon, went back to the back panel, after bashing about with hammers and dollies it did not look to bad.

I thought I done a great job there, alas on a closer inspection I decided to replace a patch where the hinge is mounted,.

then looking one step further, maybe just the lip to put on and that is that,...........instead I cut out the bottum corner and am replacing that with something new,..panel... sorry Shifty but that corner is a bit of a sh.....r. I did tack that one on today but no piccy as yet, will do tomorrow, bit panel-beating it into the right shape after welding is done. :mrcool:

to be honest, I do not know if there is any advantage in fitting a flipfront, unless you can fill me in on that.

except for easier access to more of the engine, it being easier to fit and saving some money, there isn't much. Although I don't expect you would be saving very much at all as you have to get it tested, which costs, or so I was told in this thread I made a while back http://www.theminifo...&#entry2123949. I was just wondering because it looked as though you had cut one of the flitch panels in preparation to fit one

See what you mean, I did cut the inner wings meerly because the front area was pretty much gone and needed repairing, they will go back on again soon, after that I probably restore it to what the mini once was,...(with a turbo engine ;D etc)

Origional colouris blue, but I might change it to Snowflower white (Code WT4). then again there is old English White, with a black roof,...of course the interior to think about too. good luck with yours to, will check you out now and then, piccies to follow later tonight from the back panel repair.

If the boot was pulled in by 1-2" the lid would not fit anymore, get a donor lid and see how far out it is and then decide whether you can hammer and dolly the dent or need to partly replace the panel, pending how bad/good it is, I would always go for the fist option and keep the dimensions right. In my case the dent is to far in on the bottum and top of rear panel plus it has deep rust in the C-Post's so the old panel has to go,

if you look close at the bottom lip of my car before work started the bottom edge of the boot is right up close to the hing panel and there is a dent around the lights on both sides , now do you think it is best to open up the holes for the hinges and just move the boot up and repaire the dents or cut the lot out and repace it all with a new panel ???
