I hate sanding with a huge hate! You've certainly been busy. Always more rust to find on a Mini.

after yesterdays interesting find(the rusty bit), I cleaned the engine side bulkhead and toeboard with paint removing disk, wire brushes and parafin.

then used Por Metal Prep to get a 'key 'on the metal;
Attached File  off side toeboard bulkhead repair 2a.jpg   99.14K   12 downloads

and gave it a good coating of POR15

I does not look that bad,.......appart from the panels not coated, they need replacing, including the end bulkhead crossmember bit >_<

i have one of the lower door frame repair panels for the bottom, you can have it mate but not sure if its n/s or o/s give me a shout ?

Wayne it is the first one. offside which really had it, I will pay you for it as it has cost you b4, pm me yr paypal details and tell me the amount,if you have the one I need. cheers

Go for the repair panel Muk. I made sections to repair mine and the result I suspect would be far neater with the whole panel!! Just my experience.

Graham, I have done those repairs on MUK's doors, certainly challenging and a good learning curb for pannel making and welding, offside no good, and could do wiv a repair iece but the nearside is do-able always looks worse then reality....then again, don't really want to see it in the first place,....defo need new skins 4 sure ;D

PS, guys I feel it is going to be a garage day today, 'miss MUK' is going out 4 a bit,......... :highfive:

mate not got a paypal and it was only 10 quid . i will give it you no probs after all the help you give me !

well guyz, monday,yesterday and today a fab day in the office(garage) love it when a plan comes toghether, when looking at the last pictures, there are e few panels to make and rot to cut out, then you got to think in 3D,........the more complex the better, just like being against a champion Chess Player......

all rot cut out and carefully peeled back the bottum flitch panel lip to remove toe-board cut out;

Attached File  off side toeboard bulkhead repair 8.jpg   101.9K   14 downloads

in the end flitch panel lip was crap so cut that out to and made new flitch-lip, tacked with toe-board repair piece in position after the bulkhead repair panel was in position, cut cut measure measure.....:

Attached File  off side toeboard bulkhead repair 9.jpg   93.84K   20 downloads

made bulkhead panel piece to sit behind crossmember-end piece as that area was no-more....;

Attached File  off side toeboard bulkhead repair 11.jpg   43.32K   13 downloads

what was finished I coated quickly with Por15:

today I finished all the welds especially the toe-board and flitch lip which I seamed and sanded back, then done the inside and seamed on the joints and sanded that back.....Por15 over the lot again(never enough) and trial fitted the crossmember end piece from M-Machine, as you can see I used a broomhandle, used the subby tower bolt holes as template and drilled 4 holes at the correct position then dropped the subby bolts through it and used the excisting nearside bolt holes in the cross-member as reference point to work from
Attached File  off side toeboard bulkhead repair 13.jpg   69.06K   22 downloads

so the plan tomorrow is to fit the end pice and repair the inner wing stiffener.....

That is quite a repair to the bulkhead and toeboard! Great. I'll be most interested to see your subframe after the electrolysis. I remember Graham doing it. A fascinationg process.
