Hi Muk, nice to be back on at last !!

I take it you have moved the roof drain points further round ?? If so why, will it reduce the pooled water anywhere or purely as it looks good?

Hi Graham, yes it has been ages if you and I are on here more or less everyday the roof drain points where the normal roof guttering design up until 1975 ish, and changed to the roof draining points from Mk3 onwards. these old gutters also have a lip welded on above the doors and rear quarter windows, it could reduce the water sitting in those famous corner but the old ones( the ones in the pictures) are easely blocked with leaves and dirt build up, hence they changed the design. As Evy is an oldish dear I left the origional speck from 1971,.....

quick update, did't really want to spend to much time welding the old plug-welds, but it does take time,.....
but the result is good, rear window panel is now zinc-primed and ready for seal and glass after it is painted, and the guttering and side seams looking the part too. well chaffed with the replacement...sofar

not sure what to do next,...floors defo, but might tackle the rear quarters first, and join it to the rear panel all the way down.

Agree with the others - an amazing job on that rear repair. I always enjoy following your topic. Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do next. All the best.

Thanks guys, it certainly has been a daring one, rear panel replacement is not for the faint hearted, A lot more planning ahead made it 'easy',
I will let you in on this,.....I will start on the boot floor and rear seats, and heel-board, then I can line-up the new arches. The rear quarters will be easyer to repair when that floor is in. That will be my 'May Mission'

Fraser hi, good for you to join , before buying anything, make sure you have the place and time to do one up and pending on state odf the mini you buy work on a 2 year stint,....Mk1-2 or innochetti, .....all depends what your cashflow is, any total restore is about 2-2.5K on Materials, engine and body bits tools,...painting one, about £800-£1200

Muk, once I sell my beetle I'll have enough money and a garage with a pit and all the tools to do it. The things I'll need help with is retaining the structure while welding and what order to do it in and reconditioning parts basically. Also I think you should keep the original colour but with silver wheels of some sort.
