Not too difficult, but probably completely pointless. The rear brakes only do about 20% of the total braking and a disc brake simply would not get warm enough to work properly. The only real reason for fitting a disc brake on the back would be to reduce the unsprung weight for racing where rear braking efficiency is not so importent, there is no MoT test to pass and the handbrake is not required (the handbrake would become very inefficient too).
Basically on a road you gain nothing at all, despite the cost, and probably lose a bit of overall brakings as well as having a non-working handbrake.

I've done it for purely cosmetic reasons - easy enough with adapter plates and Golf Gti Mk2 stub axles, disks, calipers etc etc......you also get the bonus of mechanical handbrake :)

pictures here show development......adapter is now half the width of this one, and the original mini shaft is modified and bolts through the adapter to keep it strong

in maybe 2-3 months when theyre finalised and machined in billet, the adapters will be available from Martin at MRA Minis

I can't see how it can be 'lighter' with that heavy caliper and disc and the adapter piece. Hard to beat minifins and alloy spacers for lightness at the back.......

OK....Im gonna say this one more time....slowly.....

Ive........done......it......for......cosmetic.......reasons.

for the record, the disk, alloy caliper and billet spacer weighs about the same as a traditional hub and arm.....Im using billet arms also.....which does save me some weight, but in my project I'll be running around 300 BHP so I wanted powerful brakes - the front brakes are insanely large, and this balances nicely with them.

other methods are available.....this is cheap, simple and easy to do should you desire rear disks, and you dont have access to grown up tools, or a lot of money :)
