They also did them in black but not for UK
Regarding knifing the roof - It's a real risk and they still wont get in easily as there are still ribs across it. I have an alarm immobiliser on my BOC (not sure if it's standard) and I never lock the doors - If they want to get in they will and I'd rather they got in through the doors - They can't take the car anyway with the immobiliser and I never leave anything in it.

Mine's just done 30K miles **this year** on an ebay engine whilst I rebuild the original. Rust is starting to take hold in the scuttle, rear shelf, wings, doors, floor and around the headlights. (just about everywhere) and the roof has shrunk just a bit too much for it to close easily.

I'm tempted to do the Mk1 treatment on it and say goodbye to BOC green but I'm still unsure. It needs welding (which I can do) but then a respray pretty much all over - Retro or not to retro? Hmmmm

Good luck with yours and treat it to some waxoil to keep it looking nice. If it's not been restored a bit already the rust is there - just it's not made it through yet. The waxoil will slow it all down.

This dedicated site is great for Open Classics: -

The Mini British Open Clasic Register Link

It is not a bad site when you first see it but then it hasn't been updated for over three years.

The site founder I believe had his BOC stolen and he no longer bothers with the site.

Yes and I'm pretty sure he came to view my sisters BOC when she decided to sell it and he seemed very interested, but then sent an e-mail a day later to say it needed too much work done and was going to leave it instead.

I think he just wanted to check to see if it was his stolen BOC perhaps and really wasn't interested at all in buying it.

has anyone ever had problems with say people taking a knife to the roof? :proud:
I've never had any problem with people taking a knife to the roof with the open classic or with the mayfair I had before which had a similar sunroof, but I did always make sure I didn't leave anything visible in the cars just in case.

hmm...well I'm reeeeally tempted to buy one that's for sale near by!! :genius: Have to say they're one of my favourite minis :proud:

but thing is, i wont be going home home for about a month, so it'll have to sit up here in east london... :) my brothers car got broken in to twice last year up here and the only thing in his car was a map :) (but then again he didn't have an immobiliser or alarm, once he got the immobiliser it was left alone) so I'm just a little worried that if I do buy it, it'll get attacked :closed: hence me asking
