Where is it leaking? and what did you set them to?I know there is a topic for this already but I need 100% confirmation. I have had my head skimmed and replaced the head gasket and torqued it down to what i thought was the correct torque setting. I started it up and its leaking quiet abit of oil, i think its coming out the back. Im thinking i havent torqued it down enough. So what is the correct torque? its a 1275 mini rio 1993 9 bolt head. cheers
Have you not got a haynes manual?

Is it head gasket, or rocker cover gasket?

yes I have the haynes manual it says 68 nm which what i did it to. I think its leaking out the back of the engine where the gasket is. I have replaced both the head gasket and the rocker cover gasket

There must be another problem. Have you tried seeing if you can get a feeler gauge between head and block to make sure it's clamped down flat?
The other thing i have sen in the past is thst the AF470 (black type gasket) always leaks water on first start up, then seals and is fine after a heat cycle. Is it definately oil? what gasket did you use?

Its more likely to be the rocker cover gasket than the head gasket. But may even be the manifold gasket. I had a problem with my ported head leaking from the inlet manifold. that looked a lot like oil running down the back of the block. fitted a new big bore manifold gasket and Bingo problem solved.
were would the oil be comming from to leak from a manifold gasket?

I know you cant get oil from a manifold gasket leak. I should have asked if you were sure it is oil before spouting off. But if it is the manifold gasket thats laeking then it does look a lot like oil running down the back of the block. Sorry if ive led you in the wrong direction. Its more likely to be the rocker cover gasket than the head gasket. But may even be the manifold gasket. Its a standard gasket off of mini spares. the rocker cover gasket looked like it had gone abit wonky so i have straighted it up and checked the torque settings but there was still a small bit of oil dripping out onto the floor. im hoping it is just abit left over from where it was leaking befor
Sounds like you may have it sorted, the rocker cover gasket is a pain to get straight, and has a habit of dipping inward at the back, coupled with oil spray it'll lad to oil down the rear of the engine.
Hope it's all okay now, maybe give the back of the engine a bit of a clean so you can keep an eye on it.
Also, if you lost much oil you should probably check your levels and give it a top-up if neccessary.

You must in any case re-torque the head after the first heat cycle - and reset the valve gaps. Best to glue thr ocker gasket to the cover - then it doesn't bulge out - and can be used over and over!
Never understood the point of this. I've never done it and don't suffer any more head gasket failures caused by under torquning than anyone else. Waste of time IMO, olld school thinking that is pretty much disproved as a requirement these days.

Just to confirm your settings, Autodata give the torque in two stages, 34Nm and 68 Nm which is 25 Lbs/ft and 50 Lbs/ft.
