have been looking into this as i'm looking to get the kit in the new year. I have driven a 1.0 micra didn't find the gearing to be to much of an issue.I'im looking to build a decent 1.3 engine mated to the 1.0 gearbox. this could be useful to http://www.micra.org...-for-k11.43321/ though not sure what year of box'es he's using

That's all well and good, but I imagine you won't be using the Micra wheel and tyre size on your Mini?

I recently contact Rob at all speed about the 1.3 frames, this is his reply :

We are offering the k11 cg10 as the logical first offering for a micra frame, also being a regular request by potential customers. frame development is quite expensive and offering new frames does take time, as well as being heavily requested, research suggested the cg10 to be the best starting point as most tend to start with the 1.0 engine which equally suits the 1.0l gearbox ratios well. then maybe upgrade to the 1.3 engine at a later stage if more cc's are required, (although the cg10 can be tuned for more bhp) still using the same g'box, the cg10 gearbox fits very nicely in a mini and we are of the opinion that the ratios are more than acceptable for an entry level/low bhp 1.0/1.3 16v conversion.
That said if the frame does prove popular or if there is sufficient demand as per the cg10 maybe a cg13 could be offered in the future.

Approx gearing :

1.0 box
Cruising (70): 4,300RM
Top Speed: 110 in 5th at 6,800RPM

1.3 box;
Top speed: 125MPH
Cruising (70): 3,700RPM

Personally I don't agree with the above, the 1.3 engine and box is the better option. I have fitted both and the 1.3 box was better.

Those approx figures are close enough.

I agree, given the experiences of other forum members there's no way I'd fit a cg10. At least it saves me a few quid in the long run as I'll be fabricating my own.

Strikes me as highly foolish to make a frame for the smaller box. A lot of the CG10's got the bigger box so it just means that people have to hunt specifically for an early Micra or bits from one. Make the frame to take the larger box and then sell additional brackets to hang the smaller box in it's place.

Gearing was my main reason for swapping the A-Series as I want something that's happier at motorway speeds. If I could have found a sensible 5 speed box (one with an overdrive that won't break) for the 1380 I had I wouldn't have gone to the trouble of changing the whole lot.
