in a few months my mini ios being taken off the road to be rebuilt and am doing a 1293/1330 turbo. I have a set of 10" wellers in the garage i bought off ebay as an impulse buy. Do you think i would benefit from the 10" wheels or stick with the 12s? Do they help you accelerate faster? Sorry for jacking your thread.

I'm running 10" wellers at the mo and the only disadvantage is there a bit fiddly to keep them clean :)

Swapping to 10" Exactons as soon as i pull my finger out and get them polished.

Erm .. yeah .. 10's FTW !

  • 10 inch wheels alter the gearing as they are smaller, so you will accellerate quicker, but top speed will be slightly reduced.
  • With decent tyres you will get a more progressive handling and more likely to feel if the grip is likely to break away.
  • You will be lower to the ground. 12 inch wheels with standard tyres are definately bigger that 10 inch wheels with a set of yoko's.
  • IMO they work better than 12 inch using neg cam on the front aswell.
FYI Over the years I have have 13, 12 and 10 inch wheels all with various profiles of tyres on each and various suspension set ups.
and of course they look much better.

forgot to say 12 inch tyres probably work better in the snow as they tend to be narrower
