My Car Wont Start!

I know nothing about cars
and today i tried to start my mini, i turned the key, turned off the immobilser then turned the key all the way and the engine tried to turn over but it wouldnt :cry:
i rang my machanic and he said he thinks it is the battery.....but i didnt leave any lights on or anything
what else could i be?

It could by all means be your battery. There's loat of things it could be.
- Battery
- Points, Condenser, Distributor (could have stopped working due to water damage)
- Starter Motor/ Solenoid

Did the starter motor turn over okay or was it turning slowly? If so it's the battery or a bad starter motor..

It could by all means be your battery. There's loat of things it could be.
- Battery

Did the starter motor turn over okay or was it turning slowly? If so it's the battery or a bad starter motor..


It is turning slowly...but im not sure if it actually turning, because its a very weird noise :/

sounds like the battery to me .. try a jump start

Thank god!
i thought was gunna be summot worse
yh ok thanks i will get my brother to help to jump start it :cry:

I agree, If it's turning slowly and making an odd noise then it sound very much like a flat battery or starter motor problem.

Can you "jump start" it from another car using "jump leads"? If so the problem is probably either the battery itself, or the charging system that is causing the battery to be flat. If it cannot be "jump started", then can it be "bump" or "push started" instead? If it starts from being pushed, but won't start from jump leads, then it is probably a starter motor problem instead. If it still won't start using either method, then it's more likely to be an ignition or fuel problem. (although this really shouldn't cause it to turn over slowly, unless you have been trying to start it repeatedly, over and over again and drained the battery in doing so!!)
