I think the extra length makes them sit nicer, even just having the chili pack makes ours sit a bit lower and less arch gap than a base model but the really modded ones look ace low I think. Ours has to fill the boring Modeo roll as well as being a bit more interesting and fun than your average euro box, that said I think will get a new model hatch next as the new clubbie is not for us really.

You don't want to know how much the GP bodykit cost me from the dealers that I had on the R50 wish I had the real thing though.

No problems usually with the strong R53 Cooper S Getrag 6-speed gearboxes only the early Rover Midland 5-speed gearbox fitted to the R50 One and Cooper up to the 2004 facelift. (Early R50 & R53 MINI was designed by Rover at Gaydon before BMW took over the project for final sign off to production so lots of Rover parts!).
Power steering pumps whine which is normal on MINI's but if they do fail (ie. very heavy steering) they are an easy DIY fix, pumps are around £250 exchange recon.
Check all electric items work as intended and central locking, air con, lights, etc also check brake discs all round which are a good price bargaining point if visibly worn. Run flat tyres are expensive but most convert to normal tyres when worn for better ride and handling.
If you like classic Mini's you should love the ride and handling.......great fun to own and drive.

I've recently purchased the Cooper S above, I also have the green mini in the background. The Cooper S is a fantastic car and in my opinion is very true to its 'origins'.
I'm considering putting some coilovers on it, done some research on minitorque and the like. KW's seem to be well thought of but I wondered if anyone has any experience with AP set? They are far cheaper but obviously it's for a reason.
Thanks, Dan.
