Its actually a chevrolet block sat on a pug gearbox, my mate mechanics for a bini race team and he said the chevy block is bombproof but the gearbox is the weak link.looks more like a vdub owner has got his hands on another german car! and the last one, are you sure cars are meant to smoke like that? think theres something wrong with that pug engine!

Did I hear something about the original designs for the new mini were actually rover... But they were shut down before the final designs were set. Then bmw tweaked ever so slightly after buying the rights, such as changing the banks from drums to discs... So don't hate people because they are German....cause it's partly british design
I don't think so. BMW had bought Rover in 96 IIRC. They made the changes to the MPi's which might have confused you.
I could be completely wrong however, but looking at rovers prototypes, they were so bad!

Banded bini steelies..interesting..
That Euro look R53 MCS above is featured inside and on the cover of this months 'Modern MINI' magazine (Nov-Dec issue see below).........the steelies are 16" Vauxhall Nova which have the same bolt pattern (standard MINI steelies are only 15"). They were adapted by 'Banded Steels' to give the right offset and then painted Renault Liquid Yellow.

Yep, you are wrong!! They were designing the new mini engine when the old mini was in production, John cooper was actively involved! I think thy tested he new engine in a rover 25...

I've seen a few R53 with the standard steelies and yes, wheels are cool but looks poor, those vauxhall rims looks a lot better, would be nice to see how will look the original 15" steelies banded like 7x15"

Red body+ black roof + steelies + chrome mirrors was what i've been thinking about. Problem is mines a BRG..
AFAIK BMW took control in 94..
