Bmw bought the name MINI,they built a superb car that had a vague resemblance to the original Mini. Why do people compare the two,tis only the name. Why BMW minis are admitted to classic Mini shows is beyond me,hopefully they will have shows in their own right soon.

If you go to other makes such as a Ford owners enthusiast show they have a whole range of models through the years displayed together like the Anglia, Escort Mk1,2,3,4, etc, right up to the current Focus for example. The big established Mini events and shows also need variety and paying customers on the gate and events like the Mini Cooper Show at Beaulieu and London to Brighton invite MINI owners and enthusiasts to attend in increasing nunbers in order to maintain their shows as financially viable. The LSMOC now also publish the L to B entry form in Modern MINI magazine to actively encourage more MINI's to attend as the numbers of daily driver classic Mini inevitabily decline on our roads each year and their ticket sales have started to fall.

(The MINI scene already has its own dedicated shows like MINI United and the annual New MINI Show in Liverpool to which all classic Mini's are also invited).

The convertible is the only one I'm not really a fan of, but that's mostly when the roof is up. That one above looks ok though.

I think MINI us a great success. It would be interesting to see what the classics would be like now if they were still produced.

I'm assuming that as BMW own all the rights, there is nowhere in the World where they can still produce the classic under license?

No it's not just you, far from looking cool I think this thread just demonstrates how modern cars tend to look "Chavved Up" when modified. Binis are clearly no exception to this and look far better/cooler as standard in my opinion.
