Mk1leg, when I first look at that car, I don't see rally I have to admit. I do see a beautiful mini though that looks as close to perfect as you would want for a road going mini. Definitely in my top 5 on here.

Its not meant to be a rally replica its a retro look of a MK1 cooper S.......and on next respray I will be making mk1 external hinge conversion including rounded front corner on doors.......

I would fit some tens spruce up the brightwork with a nice grill and leave it. It's a lovely example. Too many original 80's Minis are ruined by marmite bad rally replicas.

In my opinion :-) your Mini is perfect

Oh gawd this was a long time ago, so the mini's been sat for about a year as I couldn't justify the cost of running a car so i got a bike instead. However my passion hasn't gone! I stupidly managed to bin my bike for the 3rd time this year on my way into college this morning and my mum immediately purchased 6 driving lessons for me so maybe crashing isn't a bad thing? Hopefully it'll give me a kick up the arse to do something with it if i have my driving license.

Did you get anywhere with your project? I did something similar to what you proposed in 2015 - it's still evolving but is red/white roof, 10" steel wheels, spotlamps and reversing spot with mk 1 rear lamps, boot and bonnet.
