Wow, never had a tow bar on a mini, but I am surprised that being attached to only the rear valance and floor would be strong enough.Not true, mine bolts to the rear valance and the boot floor, doesnt touch the subframeI've never been keen on the Mini tow bars anyway. They mount from the subframe and boot floor. This rigid mount is in conflict with the rubber mounted subframe
here is what I tow with a 998 mini 30, its a Dandy trailer tent approx 350kg, tows very well and is a braked unit

Hence why I only want to tow something as large as a washing machine

Perhaps a roof rack would suffice for that sort of size?
