1060cc engine pocketed
Flat top pistons
Cam (unsure what to run) SW5 would be good if you would like a nice road cam
Duplex timing chain
1.3.1 rockers
12g925 or 12g940 head - if the block is already pocketed then go for the 940, even a standard one would be fine.
stright cut drop gears
4 speed stright cut box or standard unsure as of yet.
3.444 final drive
centre oil pick up

Sounds like a good spec!

Iv got a brand new SW5 that you could have for £90, just taken out of the box and slid into the engine, but then decided to go with the SW10. Also got a nice 940 head that has had the exhaust valves sunk by 40thou to clear the block :D let me know!

From considerable experience.... steer well clear of the minisport X-pin...

Although an X-pin is not totally necessary, if the budget will allow, use one, in fact use one in preference to the SC gears and drops...

Either the Minispares evolution, or one of mine.... http://www.guess-wor...play.htm?id=111

Why do you need a straight cut box and drops on a 75bhp engine?

A standard rebuilt box will be fine.

I've got a similar spec in my elf.

1015cc
295head
sw5cam
ultra light flywheel and back plat
Guessworks refurb box
RC40
Maniflow free flow manifold.
Aldon dizzy and electronic ignition
Std rockers
3.44 diff

That made 50ish at the wheels and about 68 at the flywheel.

I've got a 276 cam to go in it as the sw5 is a bit tame, will also be fitting MED 1.3 rockers and having a little headwork done as the guides are a bit smokey

I'd have liked to have thought I'd get 70-75 when its done.

ah that sounds quite a nice engine shifty thanks :D

and

Gusseworks i had a feeling minisports might not be to good, but ill properly order one off you & stright cut drops sound good if gear box don't need to much work then that save me abit more money

thanks everyone

Shifty, Whats it like with the 3.44 diff..? Think you could put a 3.6 diff in with out killing the motorway speed say at 60MPH going to the odd mini show?

I ask because im building a 998 up to around the same spec for my 79 mini.. not sure to go for 3.44 or 3.6 umm

Nope! Block will need pocketing or valves need sinking!

I'll post up the specification of my 998, I'm doing! or you can go through the thread! in my sig

Its fine with the 3.44, I don't think I'd like to go any higher, especially when he's got a 276 in him.

3.44 is a good allrounder.
