im actually amazed with the 998 in the fellas mini from our club though, and i really aint a fan of the lad either, he drives like a complete male chicken, and gets right up your backside.
But i still fail to understand how it accellerated quicker than my 998 at the time (i think it was a high compression engine, had both block and head skimmed at minisport at some point before i bought the car), his will pull well to 90mph but not much more, so in theory i should have the shorter ratio and get to 70 faster than he can. Confused.
Maybe and your going to slate me for this, But your 998 and 1275 are both running like *******.
How anyone expect a badly set up or worn engine to drive at its best all the time… oh it’s a 1275 so it must be faster…

And my 1275 is only just ready to be rolling road tuned tomorrow, couple months ago was engine swap, then get hold of hif44 and clean that up and bolt it on, and other niggly bits.
And standard 1275s have MUCH more torque than standard 998's do, and as such ive found it much more comfortable to drive, dont have to keep constantly dropping down to third then back up to 4th and back down to third again.
Theres no substitute for CC's (except forced induction

agreed, my old 998 never ran right, but a fellas 998 stage one thats been rolling road tuned regularly in its life still cant achieve what that std 998 does.

Some engines are just odd, Mine for example actually lost power thought out the rev range, especially at the bottom end compared to what it's now running on a standard system.

But you are right that you do have the trash the tits off a 998 compared to a 1275.

llf, i love these topics, just so good to read through and brighten up your day, i think some people that claim to do over 100 in a 998 might have a kmh speedo with mph stickers put over the kmh bits llf, if anyone wants to make their 998 seem faster ive got a kmh speedo, dont have a clue if it works though lol, i think it does but unless your 998 has had balls out work dont on it and the shell lightened to ******* i dont think your gona make these magical 100's
Or a turbo. which all my 998s do of course.
