How do you ensure the modified pedal has the same travel as the pedal in the Micra? :)

if you set the pedal to the correct height before pressing, and set the cable with no slack you cant go wrong

Good luck with the build! I was wondering if you are going to have to run a cat, as the engine is post '91?

Interresting question, I am unsure of the regulation in the UK. I am from the NL myself.

But here I believe they will regard the year the car was first registered to determine which emmision standards are used. Also back in the day when catalysts were not yet common practise, some cars had them from factory already. If so, this is stated on your license papers (unsure what these are called over there); in this case the cat may not be removed.

Not using cat just the 4 branch manifold, then joining it to a rc40. my understanding is that the mini is registered in 1987 and therefore dosn't need a cat. my friendly mot tester used to mot my previous classic (triumph spitfire with a 2.0 ford focus zetec engine running on a non cat pipe and twin dcoe webers ) and never raised any concerns regarding emmissions.

Yeah we didn't have cats here on Mini's untill SPi, the carbed 91 Coopers were a transition phase. Guess in UK it's also irrelevant what year the block is, what matters is age of vehicle :)

I'm not 100% sure that's right. IIRC if you have a newer car, but can prove the age of an older engine you can run to emissions of the engine. For example, I could get an older 1275 engine and put it in my mpi and be ok as long as I had all the paper work. It doesn't apply here really, but just for the sake of clarity.

i understood it was ok without a CAT regardless of age as long as it was under the emissions allowed?

I guess it depends on the tester then, I helped build a Sebring Healey with a 6.3 Chevy. When it passed the IVA he was able to prove that the necessary 90% was new or reconditioned (as new) so it was given a then new 59 plate, but it doesn't need a cat because the block is from a 70s 'Vette, so that car is tested on the age of the engine. Having said that I had a '77 Midget that was given a smoke only test at it's MOT! (Maybe he was confused by the chrome bumper conversion? :P).

Oh, I was interested to know what year Micra the engine is from, I see it has an injector for each port, is that the same for all K11s? I ask because I can only find fuel rails for post 99 cars.

Very interested to see how the manifold goes, are you hoping to be able to make one that clears the bulkhead?

its multipoint injection from a 93 or 94, L reg micra. The inlet manifold is part made and will post pictures when its finished, there will be no mods to the bulkhead. the cat on the exhaust has never been an issue for me as i didnt think it would be a problem leaving it off. if it fails mot because of it i suppose i'll have to fit 1.

Your car is a 1987 did i read correctly?
If so you do not need a catalyic converter Rids. The emmissions test will be performed to the oldest part, car or engine

Dreading the wiring! Here's the inlet manifold not the best flowing but fits without any bulkhead mods.Posted ImagePosted Image

Love it! Did you mig it? Or can you tig?

I think I'd knock something like that, get it running and maybe get one made when I was happy with the conversion if I was doing it. No sense in spending hundreds now for you to find you're not satisfied in a few months!
