Awesome green machine!
The throttlebody mod looks seamless. Are you having any cooling issues? Reason i ask is your fan, shouldn't there be a shroud along its circumference to force air through the rad? Also, the skew of the blades suggest that it is designed to run the other way, running it this way may cause it to be noisy/turbulent and a little inefficient.
Also, luvs the upside-down rad!!!

no problem at all with cooling. the fan switch is wired thru the ecu and has never came on yet. i do have an overide switch wired in but again, never had to use it. To be honest i rushed mounting the fan to get it on the road with the plan of improving it in the winter.Ive done prob 500 miles in it now and the only snag ive had is lambda sensor positioning, the car ran great cold but as it got warm it was like running on choke, i removed lambda and had it resting in engine bay and the car ran near perfect like that, ive since looked at original mount and not much of the sensor was sitting in the gas flow,( the boss i made was to long!) ive now shortened the boss so more of the sensor sits in the exhaust. The car pulls really strong with this motor and if i'm really criticle, i'd say it could do with a higher final drive, its accelleration is great, but top speed seems to be about 90 on the sat nav without killing it.It cruises at 70-80 effortlessly and quietly. All told to get this power out of an a series engine would have cost a lot more, and reliability would become an issue. Its a pleasure to drive and has been well worth the effort

I sort of have, after sorting o2 sensor it was running really well, apart from if I switch off when warm, then switch back on it ticks over but bogs down when revved throwing a bit of black smoke out the back. once driven it was fine again, Like I've said wiring is not my strong point and its the only part of this conversion I farmed out. I suspected the coolant sensor wasnt sending signal to ecu, so I tried joining wires at sensor together and it made no difference sort of confirming what i thought. I then disconnected wiring at throttle body end (the connector below the alloy plate covering circuit board) I think this puts ecu into a default mode reading an average coolant temp. This cured fault and car is running really well. however i do want to re connect this so will be tracing coolant sensor wiring back to ecu. It sounds worse than it is, and I may now just being a bit fussy.

the connector on the throttle body is the idle air control valve, i've read its known for them to play up and cleaning them can solve things :)

just re-read some of your build, and with reference to the rocker cover breather, you should connect it to the manifold and then put a small breather/filter on the open end ( next to the dizzy) to stop dust etc being dragged in

i can get a flat, pancake filter in,(when i source one,) The finalising of project will be very much done as i drive it throughout summer,

as ive said its running really well now and the finalising will be done as i drive it. Its the throttle potentiometer i have disconnected at the minute not the idle valve and it's running spot on I'll keep tinkering forever probably. you are right, i need to sort breathers out, i also fancy an intake tube to draw cool air in from behind grill and i need to tidy fan area up. All advice is greatly appreciated

Ah sorry misread your post regarding the TB connector. Disconnecting the throttle position sensor should cause problems rather than solve things :)

The one big problem known with micra's is the circuit board on the TB. There's several guides online on how to resolder the board.

This connector is the one that i'm running without,It seems to act as a choke.. connected choke on, disconnected choke off

Lookin good, i like the idler pulley and alternator adjuster all in one bracket, clever stuff.
What car is the exhaust 4 branch manifold off?
I know folk use k series but there seems to be loads of different ones!

Just noticed this build topic! I was looking around your Mini at the Geordie Job. It's very nice with engine conversion and bright colour scheme!

I had two Mini's at the show, my Rover Mini 40 and blue Austin Mini Pickup. I was sitting in the Pickup as you were leaving the show field.

I never went to that show. That could be the guy from the Tynemouth mini club with the other Mini 40.

Alex.
