I do not believe that this will be the case as MINI have totalMINI which from what I can see is a friendly, helpful MINI forum. Also, the small mini section on totalMINI has not grown and swamped totalMINI, as there is TMF. For these reasons, I feel that no one need worry about being overrun by MINI.

I really can't beleive how naive this statement is. No more classic minis are being made, so there is a finite number of ownwers/enthusiasts taking part in any forum, especially a forum that is not geared to their car. On the other hand you have a car that is being mass produced and hence has an increasing number of owners who will,at some point, outnumber the classic owners. If there are so many people wanting a joint forum, why has the one recently formed only attracted 16 members. Let Totalmini do whatever they like....TMF will remain a classic mini forum.

Couldnt have put it better myself.

Why cant there be a forum dedicated to classics only? Whats your problem with that? Just because we dont want a BINI section on this forum, does not mean we go around damaging other peoples cars thank you very much. That is a totally different subject and totally irrelivent. I have no idea why you think that backs up what ludicrous argument you think you have.
Why is this women so hell bent on getting her own way? Let it drop already

...and going round in circles!

I think TMF's response has been re-quoted enough but some people are definitely missing the point of what was written.

It's difficult to decide whether to re-quote the 'official' response and close this or leave it open to stop the same topics being started saying the same things over and over..

I do actually want to leave the subject. and wish it was laid to rest.

The trouble is everyone wants the last word, and probably thinks if the other party gets the last word in then they have "won"
So... it will more than likely go round and round in circles.

guys what is going on here

this is the internet isnt it ? theres no need to get so uppety over wether there should be X section created or not...

if it happens then great for those who might use it, if not then dont panic, the world will still revolve.

TMF members should take it as a positive, new MINI owners want to be part of youre forum. They arent asking you to be part of theirs.

Exactly. There seems to be a lot of bini drivers that either look down at the classic or don't get it. So for a bini driver to want to join a group with classics, means they are more than just an a-b bini driver. Afterall, it is actually enthusiastic people that join forums. NOT cars >_<.

Amazed the topic is still going though. Seems the decision has been made for now. Who knows what may happen in the future.

so join TMF because your enthusiastic about classic minis?
and join MINI2 if you enthusiastic about BMW MINIs?
You join a specific forum to talk about that specific car.....

I have nothing against the new MINIs but what it comes down to, is there enough people here to give good helpful advice?
Probably not.

I fail to see how people can call them self’s enthusiasts of the classic when they don’t even own one as well as/or instead of a Bini.

Really???

Doesn't surprise me!

How many members of TMF do you think, don't actually own minis, but still consider themselves enthusiasts???

To be fair to some people on here, I was a mini enthusiast years before I owned one, if you have a normal fairly low paid job then most can't afford a second car, I needed a neat reliable car for my job an couldn't afford a mini, it wasn't until I started my company that I could afford it.

The new MINI / Bini whatever is, is a Mini.

Mini is a brand name and has been since the 80s under Rover and not the "size" of the car.

Take a look at other evolutions of cars, they've got larger over time too;

VW Beetle
VW Golf
Fiat 500

etc.

The new "BMW" MINIs are just as much a Mini as the classic ones.

Rover even used MINI badges on the classic versions FFS!

The sooner the Bini haters get over it, the better.

We should have a section on TMF for Minis 2001 onwards.

Personally I have both a classic and a new Mini for the record.

You know something? There are certain people on here that just keep repeating the same stuff over and over again!
There is no point saying anything back as they will only see in there little world and will not look to the future, You say
anything they dont like they reply and then moan that the debate is going on, why not its a good debate and people should have there
say. But what you must remember this carry on the way you are and not only will you put off people joining the forum and the mini family.
then you are only destroying the whole thing people! and in the end it will only be you that you can blame! not MINI owners or thoses classic
owners that have desided to welcome to MINI to the family in clubs etc, but for those of you that are and im sorry stuck 10 years out of date!
then i think its time for you to look from behind your rose tinted glasses as the future will look bleak.
How do you think it looks when a person comes along to a show and all he/she hears is nasty comments like "Bag of poo" "its not a mini" and booing?
to me that would look bad and down right sad and would certain make me go out a buy a different car, may be a ford or a fiat or if it was my first car it would not be a mini after hearing this at shows. I know people that have first class minis that could win prizes at all shows have stopped going because of the childish actions of some and not because of the MINI.
Having a new section would not harm anyone, you dont have to go on it and read it! and if not then send them to a forum that can help ie mini/MINI united or total mini but not MINI2 as it rubbish. But please people lets stop with the same comments thats why threads get long winded and repeatative.

The new MINI / Bini whatever is, is a Mini.

You are entitled to your opinion, but please do not state it as fact.

Mini is a brand name and has been since the 80s under Rover and not the "size" of the car.

The brand name was registered to protect the name that was given to a specific car, Issigonis' desined mini.

Take a look at other evolutions of cars, they've got larger over time too;

VW Beetle
VW Golf
Fiat 500

etc.

All made by the original company.

The new "BMW" MINIs are just as much a Mini as the classic ones.

Many disagree with you.

Rover even used MINI badges on the classic versions FFS!

And your point is? They made the car.

The sooner the Bini haters get over it, the better.

Most don't hate the Bini. It;s a matter of it not being recognised as a true mini. If BMW had not bought Rover, the badge could not have been used on the Bini. Ask yourself why they call their car MINI. Why not Marina or Allegro, cars nearer BINI size. They just wanted to cash in on the mini heritage their car had no part of. The Bini is a good car, its just not a mini.

We should have a section on TMF for Minis 2001 onwards.

This has been decided already and will not happen at this time. There are several other forums that are available to Bini owners where far better advice about them can be given.

Personally I have both a classic and a new Mini for the record.

Great. I hope you enjoy both.

Who would consider leaving tmf if a new mini section was made?

Just so I can send a list to the mental health association.
