BINI owners dont understand banter or jokes because they can be so uptight. That could be the reason why the forum has gone down hill. Learn to chill out and not demand attention and we might all get along

So by that theory, if you own a BMW mini, your a uptight person, with no sense of humour that is killing off theminiforum.co.uk forum?
Im not sure where it says theminiforum.co.uk is a classic mini only forum, but the home page says "your online guide to everything mini"
The inhospitality of the whole BMW mini and classic mini scene seems to come from the classic, i have not yet met a BMW mini owner that does not like the classic mini, yet the other way around, many owners are very anti, even threatening behaviour towards a fellow motoring enthusiast, just at the mention of the name.

Nice choice to cut out the "But typically" part of my post to reinforce your own statement. Nice misquote. You dont work for the press do you?! If your going to quote me, quote the whole thing! And yes, by telling people you wont take no for an answer and that you will keep pestering people till you get your own way, and demanding special treatment you are in my opinion killing the atmosphere of the forum.

Im not sure where it says theminiforum.co.uk is a classic mini only forum, but the home page says "your online guide to everything mini"

Actually, I believe the rules say something like classic forum which is BMW Mini tolerant. Dont know about you but if I was in a social environment where I was told that this place is for X but we "tolerate" you being here I prob wouldnt feel that welcome, and would prob leave!
We have however tried to make you feel welcome (i for one try for friendly banter, but when people demand special treatment it does rile me up) The odd few are more interested in causing trouble and mischief but you get those people everywhere. Drop the silly "lets have our own section" nonsense, and lets all try and get along.

I often talk to BMW owners in the street and at shows. But things like this silly behaviour sours my feelings towards all BMW Mini drivers and that's not fair on them.

Minicar
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search

Minicar or mini car may refer to:

* City car, a European car classification
* Kei car, a Japanese car classification
* Obvio!, is a Brazilian car
* The Mini, a popular British small car made from 1959 to 2000
* The MINI (BMW), a retro-styled supermini produced since 2001 by BMW
* The Bond Minicar, a three-wheeler made by Bond Cars Ltd

So every car under the city car class, Kei car class. obvio car class and the bond minicar class should get their own section? They all fall under the class "Mini"

ah but a Bini dealer has the name "mini" above the door, but if I went to the parts desk and asked for a ball joint for an 86 mini he wouldn't be able to help me!

As BMW themselves decided mini was for the classic and MINI was for the BMW version. You will note that TMF does not use capitals for mini.

I beleive that many time Bini owners have shown hostility to minis. A lot of them think that, because its a BMW, they are superior in every way. They also push their way into classic events therefore denying acces to the classic mini. I do not condone rudeness on either side but really cannot understand why, with so many MINI forums available, why they have to try and muscle in here. I suggest that we agree to disagree and go our seperate ways.

I mearly pointed it out, as it says mini. If you type mini into google caps lock or not you get a mixture of both, and searching for a "classic mini forum" brings a different site :D

I have never heard a MINI owner be nasty to a classic owner and if they have then it's been towards someone who's been nasty and vindictive towards them. I have had first hand experience of this when a "classic owner" kicked and damaged my MINI costing hundreds of pounds due to this stupidity towards them, my friends MINI had damage costing money again to sort out again done by "classic owner" this time by a member of a club from the north
So if any one would like to tell me if a MINI owner has damaged a classic and have sworn and spat at and thrown drinks over them then please let me know!
As for shows they do not push their way into shows at all they are asked by organisers to turn up, put on displays and for clubs to turn up so if that's barging in then talk to the show organisers and not moan on forums etc.
At many shows I can count on both hands the amount of empty spaces from "classic only" clubs who book and then don't turn up or book more stand space than they need so please feel free to have a go that MINIs are taking over!
As for L2B I believe the organisers asked for MINIs to join in and last year out of 100% only 5% were new so yes that's taking over! And as it first come then it's up to them how many are let in.

Ok if classic mini owners are nasty to bini owners, why are you making such a fuss of being included here on a classic forum? It is blatantly obvious, even from BMW's marketing department, that they are desperately trying to set up the bini as the successor to the classic mini. That way they will have more sales and sales of parts for far longer than usual. Why do you think they spend so much on sponsoring MINI/mini events? As for L2B your belief is incorrect, they just didn't look closely at reg numbers.

iv heard of it..so it does happen, burying your head in the sand doesnt mean it doesnt happen, localy theres a person whos apparently very dick-ish to classic minis...and bini drivers probably get hung and drawn if they touched a classic at one of the shows and would probably know better..of course i dont think any damaging of any cars is justifyable.

Oh for sake have you not read what's been given that it would be for people on here who have both and use them in equal measures, but no all we get is this that and the other! No your wrong on this wrong on that. Instead of being a negative person or persons on here why not give ideas and help it's no wonder this forum gets a really bad rap on other forums, facebook and word of mouth because of attitudes of certain people!
If any one was to stumble on this site they'd look at and think how sad that they go mental over a car and I've heard that said. If you don't want MINIs at shows then moan at the show organisers write to them demand that they be band, talk to the organisers of L2B help them look at the number plates and stop any 1994 and after from going! But no one will as it's to much effort to write to them and voice your opinion, but it's easier to be a keyboard ninja and attack those who have both have a question!
Due to the fact that you have chosen to ignor that my car was damaged proves to me that your only spoiling for a row and not helping.
So stop moaning write to show organisers and tell them!
It also proves to me and is now a deciding factor that I no longer will buy a classic again due to the fact there still nasty blinkered people who go out to make any one that dares mention the nasty word MINI so unwelcome.

Im not a fan of the new MINI at all (as much for the fact that i think it compares poorly to other modern cars) but i dont think im important enough to tell people they shouldnt drive one!
Yes it's not a 'real' mini, yes BMW have taken Clubman to mean estate, yes its a big car, but really, who cares? If you like it buy it, christ i can think of more bad stuff to say about a micra or an astra, let it go, get on with people, have your little private giggle about how they 'bought the wrong car' but dont throw your toys out the pram about it!
at the end of the day ITS A CAR

I am sorry to hear about your car being damaged, that just isnt on..... even if you were being an aggressor(not saying you were, just saying even if someone was being a pillock its still uncalled for.)

But your car being damaged is fairly irrelivent when it comes to TMF BINI section, isnt it? I fail to see how it is remotely relevant. Again as said before, if you dont like it why are you making such a fuss?!! Are you sure its not you spoiling for a fight? Most people would have deicded to be the bigger man and walked away. but you haven't. so perhaps the "fight" has be brought here rather than always been here as you suggest.

I am sure I am not alone in saying the forum was once a great, peaceful friendly place. Something changed, it could have been the introduction of a foreign element..... who knows what that could have been?!!

If you dont want to by a classic mini then dont, I dont think anyones begging you too. Why do we care if you buy a classic or not?! It might make you MORE relevant to this forum, but other than that who gives two hoots. Its no skin of my nose.

Nobody will say you are wrong on anything if you state correct facts and not massage them in favour of your argument. We had stated time and again help and solutions to the problem, but, as you do not want to hear them, you have ingnored them.

It sounds to me that you are "throwing your toys out of the pram" by saying you now have decided against buying another classic. Great, another car available to a real classic enthusiast.

Obviously you are listening to the wrong people....this forum has a great reputation and the proof of that is the number of people wanting to join, well over 36000 to date. Anyway, if it is so bad why are you still here?

We are not wanting to row, but there are a very few people who will not take what they are being told, which is:

THIS IS A CLASSIC mini FORUM THAT IS BMW MINI TOLERANT!!!

WE WILL POLITELY ADVISE ANYONE ENQUIRING ABOUT THE BMW MINI THAT THEY WOULD BE BETTER ON ANOTHER FORUM EG MINI2

Well thats not bad I suppose, we've never had a Bini discussion thats actually lasted this long!! Lets just chill out a bit here chaps, step back from the keyboards and breathe!!

As Bec said earlier, we've got no current plans to include the BMW Mini, we simply don't have the infrastructure to cope. We should continue being polite to those who do come here.

Lets not let this sensible and relevent discussion get ruined, theres been some very valid points raised.
