A section on TMF has been declined by the powers that be, so that isnt an option for you.

from what i have read on here and in the staff room the TMF team have not said no

there are members of the team that have said they wouldn't want a BINI section but they are speaking for their selves not the TMF team

at the moment the TMF team are saying not a the moment but this isn't a no

Ahh fair enough. I thought it was an official No. In that case I take it back.
Hopefully a decision can be made soon so the topic can be put to rest

I believe that this topic cannot be put to rest (on a permanent basis) and needs to be reviewed regularly to take account of any changes to TMF membership and altered views. I feel that as the debate about MINI and mini will continue within the mini scene, so will the debate about MINI's place within this forum. I think it is almost as certain as death and taxes! :)

So are you saying, that even if you do get told no you still wont let the topic lie? ffs

No, what I have said is that is a topic (a bit like immigration for this country) that is a changing and altering one which needs to be reconsidered at certain time periods. Membership of TMF does change over time and opinions can alter (I have altered mine :)), so a decision that is right and fit for purpose now, may not be so in a year or two's time.

So now owning a bini is like being an immigrant? I can see that actually. No one wants immigrants either!

No again, what I have said is that is the topic of MINI's involvement in TMF is a bit like immigration for this country in that is a changing and altering one which needs to be reconsidered at certain time periods. Others including me, will also disagree with you over your views of immigrants and their value to this country, but that is another subject altogether! :)

I dont really care what you say anymore.
I will disregard anything you say from now on for the sole reason that you have stated that even if you do get told no, you wont leave it there and will keep protesting on a regular basis. For me, that's just disrespectful of the mods, admin and other users. If you get told no, its a no. Its up to the mods to decide if the topic should be revisited again. not you.

And my post on immigrants was a joke, my views on immigration are my own and I wouldn't share them on a Mini forum as (like some topics and some people) have no business on here..... but typically BINI owners dont understand banter or jokes because they can be so uptight. That could be the reason why the forum has gone down hill. Learn to chill out and not demand attention and we might all get along

Here are some FACTS:

1. It is wrong to say MINI out sells Fiat 500 without taking into account the number of models and corporate sales. If you compare the 500 to just say Cooper and One models, the MINI sells less.

2. As classic owners, we don't give a rats behind how many MINIS are sold.

3. The general public DO NOT associate MINI with mini....they don't care about mini, just want a modern car...straight from a friend who (and I forgive him) works for BMW. Their senior management in marketing track trends and public associations and found virtually NO link between mini and MINI. This they want to reverse hence the sponsorship of mini events.

4. There are more VW owning TMF members than MINI owners...should we have a VW section?

You don't have to read or care about what I write, that is your right! I will continue to debate points, express my opinions, justify them and questions others, in a polite and respectful manner, as and when appropriate - isn't that what a forum is about?

The moderators do not own the forum, they run it and manage it for the members, for which I am very grateful :). Using a forum in a polite and appropriate manner, as I believe I have done. making valid points and explaining and justifying is what it is all about - it is the point of a forum! I only make my points when I feel it is appropriate.

I get the feeling that you think I am a MINI owner. Five years ago I would have been morally offended, but I have moved on a little (it takes time :)). No, I'm not a MINI owner, and honestly don't think I ever will be, but I am a mini owner of more than 22 years and currently have four of them spanning from a 1960 to a 2000. I have just come to the realisation that I believe mini is better of working with and involving MINI than remaining on its own.

This is getting no where same old same old stuff vws section etc same anti new stuff heard over and over again from the same people who seem not willing to move forward if you don't want it just say no we would like it to stay as it is and if any MINI owner comes on we will be polite and send them in the right direction to total mini etc, instead it's easier to sit behind a keyboard and be nasty to them because that's the way you are. All that's been asked is does the site want a new mini section? Yes or no not MINI this BMW did that!
May be the next comments should be one word answers they are YES or NO! Simple.

You are misinformed....this is a privately owned forum not a cooperative and if the owners want it to go in a particular direction or sell it, that is their right.

Please explain what specific benefits mini could expect from an association with MINI that it could not get from anyother source.

This is getting no where same old same old stuff vws section etc(mentioned as more members own VWs than MINIs) same anti new stuff heard over and over again from the same people who seem not willing to move forward( and it is the same people who will not accept the views of the majority. I'm glad you said you worked for Vauxhall...I thought it was BMW) if you don't want it just say no we would like it to stay as it is and if any MINI owner comes on we will be polite and send them in the right direction to total mini etc,(This is EXACTLY what we have been saying but the bini brigade are taking no notice) instead it's easier to sit behind a keyboard and be nasty to them because that's the way you are. I am sorry and I stand correct about the ownership of TMF. However, I do not believe that I behaved in a disrespectful manner.

I have stated many reasons through this thread about how I believe that MINI benefits mini, do you really want me to reiterate them all again! :)

One that I can explain again, is that my clear experience is that the public and yes, MINI owners and drivers, do associate MINI with mini, and as a result, a small number (of the million odd) do take an interest in mini. I have even been told many times by MINI drivers that they feel the spirit of mini lives on in MINI and they can feel it! I'm not too sure about that or how I feel about it, but they say it and genuinely believe it. :)

Encouraging these people to be more closely involved in mini will bring new blood, but having seen some of the posts on TMF towards MINI, I feel that they may think we are negative, inward looking and unfriendly, and consequently we may never seen them again and they may give the whole mini scene a wide birth. I do not want that, I want as may people involved in mini as possible - I feel that is best for mini. :)

My understanding is that the Mini Cooper Register forum does have a section for MINI. Also, my experience is that TMF is now in a minority for mini clubs, runs, shows, events etc in not either incorporating MINI or have a section for MINI. I'm not sure why it is different in the online world than when we all meet with our minis and MINIs.

Ok, as it stands, I feel that overall a MINI section is a good idea - the mini/MINI world has and is moving on, so maybe we should too - so YES.

It's a strange one for me because it is a section that I would never use as I do not have an interest in MINI. However, I recognise that a number of MINI owners do have a dual interest (mini and MINI) and for them and potiential new members who also have MINIs, this would be welcoming. If it is in a different section I don't need to read it or see it, so that suits me fine .
