If the new mini was built under the rover name, I'm sure most people would except it better.

In my eyes BMW screwed Rover!!!

Sorry but this shows you have very little idea of what actually happened.

Have a read of this site for what actually happened

http://www.aronline.co.uk/

Then look at the 'facts and figures' tab and then 'History'

(for some reason I can't give a direct link)

(oh and my post hoover has been out again, please think about what you're posting people)

If there is a BINI section can I have a Ford Focus RS section too please?

My RS is a totally different car to my mini, so I go on different forums to suit the different cars. Should be the same with the BINI imo as it is a totally different car. I stopped reading mini world when Bini stuff started getting published.

What do you think the people over on the MINI2 forum would think if we went there and wanted a classic mini section? they would likely say "errrm you already have a classic mini forum, it's called TMF".

WASTE OF TIME discussing this. Keep TMF classic.

Generally, only diehard mini and British motor enthusiasts do not associate MINI with mini. Also, we don't see RSs, VWs, Toyotas, Metros (ok - I have seen the one or two Metros, but it is rare!) etc at meets and shows and they don't have their own classes. However, we do see MINIs and at some shows they have their own classes. Also, we don't have long debates about RSs, VWs, Toyota's, Metro's etc association with mini, but we do about MINI.

Interestingly the first New MINI's were actually built on the Rover production line at Longbridge before production was moved to Rovers plant at Cowley Oxford. There are many books on what really happened from both sides and on the design and reasoning behind the new MINI but unfortunately few people like yourself will ever bother to read them, prefering to repeat random biased comments picked up off the internet as gospel................however, as mentioned by Shifty there is some good well researched info on the Austin Rover Online website.

You may not have seen this video but I often feel if only John Cooper had lived a little longer, his passion for the New MINI, which he often wrote about in his column in Miniworld at the time, would have helped some diehards get over the Mini's inevitable replacement, without taking anything away from the original Mini's place in motoring history.

And you never need to be mad on MINI. I'm not and I cannot see that I ever will, I am a mini enthusiast, but I now regularly see MINIs at shows, meets and runs that are mainly mini events and can see how their owner's involvement in the mini scene has and will continue to benefit mini.

why cant you just use mini2? i know mini2 is probably not as good and not big like TMF but thats probably cause most of the bini owners dont care about joining a forum for the car to show their love and passion for what they drive cause most of them just buy the car cause they think its "cool" (fashion). when i joined the TMF i was hoping there wasn't going to be binis everywhere on the site and im glad they not cause bini IS NOT anything to do with little minis. you dont go on mini2 and see all classic minis cause it was made for bini... like miniforum is made for the classic

Mini2 is now a big international MINI forum which was sold a couple of years ago to a large Canadian Auto forums company and is no longer run by enthusiasts. (It does have a small classic section but hidden unless you are registered as a member).

That is why TotalMini.com was formed by UK Mini/MINI enthusiasts, it is MINI biased but has a small classic Mini section in the same way that has been suggested TMF could but in reverse.
ie. TMF a classic Mini forum with a small MINI section for owners with an interest in both.

oh ok. i can see where your coming from with wanting a tiny section of TMF for binis. ive never classed the bini as a mini but most people seem to do :/ to be honest im for and against this whole thing. i would prefer TMF to stay classic mini only, but then whatever is said people are still gonna see bini as mini so....

The answer has pretty obviously been no, so you talk about moving forward, it seems you only want to move forward if you get your own way. Adding a bini section is not the only way to move forward. I dont understand why you are so intent on this. The answer has been no, so what the hell are you still going on about

A section on TMF has been declined by the poweres that be, so that isnt an option for you.
If MINI2 or totalmini or one of the many other BINI forum (that have actually been created for BINI users) aren't the place for you, then why don't you go start your own forum?

Its not like you dont have somewhere else to go.

from what i have read on here and in the staff room the TMF team have not said no

there are members of the team that have said they wouldn't want a BINI section but they are speaking for their selves not the TMF team

at the moment the TMF team are saying not a the moment but this isn't a no

Ahh fair enough. I thought it was an official No. In that case I take it back.
Hopefully a decision can be made soon so the topic can be put to rest

I believe that this topic cannot be put to rest (on a permanent basis) and needs to be reviewed regularly to take account of any changes to TMF membership and altered views. I feel that as the debate about MINI and mini will continue within the mini scene, so will the debate about MINI's place within this forum. I think it is almost as certain as death and taxes! :)
