Does anyone on here have one, preferably the diesel. If so, what are they like.

Please only post if you have some experience. I do not care about anti BMW mini oppinions,

Thanks.

My sister in law has a cooper d,
it drives ok, little big sluggish, good mpg,
a tad on the noisy side , even withoutbthe run flats,

over all id say its a good deisel that WILL hold its money for some time to come...

But the BMini clubman has a round nose!!! therefore it cannot possibly be a clubman! :)

I know the diesel engines are good having driven a peugeot 207 SW which has an identical engine to the Clubman 1.6D and found it a pretty nice engine for a diesel other than that I cant help :)

If its any help the MINI Clubman has been voted 'Estate Car of the Year' by readers in the latest edition of What Car? magazine.
http://www.whatcar.c.../estates/254220

Winner - MINI Clubman
It might not be the most practical car here, but that hasn’t stopped you voting the Mini Clubman your favourite estate – just ahead of the Skoda Octavia.

Might be worth asking on here, I find they are a friendly group at Mini shows:

i know someone who has one they say if you require an estate don't bother getting one, anything bigger than a 'big shop' you need to put the rear seats down so you loose the rear seats. apart from that they love it plus the bini/mini scene.

Since august all diesels use the n47 diesel engine which is the same as they use in the 1 series. Very good for it's size

Avoid the mini one diesel though. (de-tuned cooper) too sluggish for the weight of the car.

Cheers for the imput guys, just looking at my options for a larger more sensible car. Not that i'm getting rid of my mini , just that i have now sold the scooby and will be looking for a replacement at some point. I like the look of these, i'd get all my biking gear in the back and my bikes on the roof. They definately look better than the usual MINI.

Thanks.

Matt.

Sorry if the original post was a bit blunt, but I just didn't want it turning into one of the usual ******* fests over the BMW mini and then getting closed.

The Cooper D is a good car to drive and to me still feels like the normal petrol. But if you can hold on till next year then there will be a diesel version of the Cooper S using the 2ltr engine shared from the 1 series. This is very rapid and is one of the best diesel engines on the market. There will also be a JCW version as well with a tuned engine and the options. Prices are not out as yet. If you cant wait then go for the Cooper d Brilliant engine but avoid the one D as it is a bit sluggish.

Thanks Dave585.

I'm actually not looking to buy anything at all for about 12 months. No point as i'm on a shed loads of courses and then out to Afghanistan for a bit, so it'll be when I get back .

Thanks for all the replies.

I have one. Its a cooper petrol with the chilli pack. I love it.

We went to buy a standard mini cooper, but the boot is way to small.

The clubmans boot isn't massive, but the with the seats down the load area is greatly improved. It also has a lot more leg room in the back and can take 4 adults.

Go for the leather seats much much nicer place to be.

As for handling there is no difference between the clubman and standard mini.

We are getting 44 mpg round town so its not to bad. You do have to work the 6 speed box to get the best out of the engine.

All I can say is we've had it for 6 months and love it.

The misses now has a diesel cooper on a 08 plate, yeah i know it's not a clubman but it's a very nice car. Miles to the gallon is unbelievable and only £20 a year road tax! The one what the misses bought has had the full JCW bodykit put on and 18" JCW wheels, full leather, bi-xenons, stereo upgrade, mood lighting the list goes on and on. We swapped to the diesel from a 05 plate cooper with was garbage on fuel in fact it was worse then the Mini GP we had.
