Evenin' all.
Just wondering how many people on here have any previous with mini derived kit cars?
I've just brought a basically un-started Hustler 6 in wood.

Just wanted to get some chat going about them is all!
I've got a weeks worth of serious thinking to do before I pick mine up.

Wow, 29 years is a sterling effort!
I don't think I intend on trying to get mine on the road.

I mean, I'm really up for building a wooden car, that I can get in a move up the street via the power of a engine.
But I dunno if I could ever get my head around the fact that it is just a timber box.

After getting Gran Turismo and getting a Mini Marcos on their I'v become some what obsessed with them. I would really like one and some point. They just look so cool and slick.

Also John you so have to put the thing on the road. Would be funny all sitting in the back of that in ASDA car park eating pizza.

The frames are no longer made as they dont conform to the iva tests ...plenty of second hand frames/cars come up on ebay regularly just make sure that it has a registration with it which has already been altered to say that the vehicle is a scamp and your away.
And as for costs well my rolling frame was 280 quid with its reg and the scrap mini i used for the engine and wiring loom was 150 quid probably spent 1500 quid in between and that gave me a 998 cooper spec engine in a car lighter than a mini which doesnt pay for its road tax!......NB more powerful 998 going in in the new year... :)

Might be quite interesting getting that thru the IVA if it hasn't been registered.
Quite a few sharp corners.

I have to confess that Mk2 Scamps are great fun and so much easier to work on. Mines a tad different and some claim i'm mental to drive it. Especially when going to winter shows when the windchill on the 120mile roundtrips is around -15*C, and a few times now part of the journey encountered a blizzard. For summer shows its amazing, although i did have to hide in the shadow of a lorry due to the blazing sun on the 4hr drive to Southern Mini Days. The interest from other road users/mini nutters always brings a smile to my face, and keeps me going when the Scamp decides to test my patience.

Here's a pic from Malvern where the elements and a gritter in the middle lane on the way back tested me again.

A few cosmetic tweaks since then but as you can see it needs a another lick of paint which i'll get round to one day. :)
