Well I've been busy gathering funds for my rear quarter windows that will be E-marked and to fit fixed rear rubbers :) I'll be getting them from plastics4performance and I have just finished pattern cutting the size to send off to them :) I'm getting them really cheap and without delivery charge due to me doing the leg work for them so if any other minus owners have to put theirs for an SVA/IVA they can get them from there. I've just started assembling my rear suspension and bought some crappy normal radius arms to fit for setting up (they will be replaced later when I can afford some specialist component ones :) )but I can't quible as I only payed £10 for them and they are recond units and came with rubber trumpet suspension and rear subframe.

Anyway I think once I have the money tub the arches and tub the suspension turrets. I have my eye on a fibreglass kit on this one website that Abuglar showed me. Then I have found another website that sell specialised paint that is better than por15 and is supposed to be the mutts nuts for my front subframe :)

Good progress though with the turrets though :)

Been fairly busy with this lately :).

Got the passenger side door all fitted up. Definately not going to get any concourse points with the panel gaps, had to use a few shims to get it to look this good. Was a right pig! Strangely though i've now got the drivers one in and it was a doddle and lines up a lot better. Both seem to drop a bit at the top. I'm not to fussed though as its a racecar ;).

Ive also fitted the bootlid, got my steering column and steering rack where i want it almost. Will need a bit of cutting to get the rack to turn. Also making up some bits so i can mount the seat.

I've also got a internal gear linkage kit to fit.

Been having lots of trouble trying to get the front subframe in. Just won't line up right with the pre drilled holes. Im going to drill out the threads in the subby and give it another try with just nuts and bolts so i have a little more room to play with.

Also got a picture if my new daily. Basically it's a prototype zr x210 only one built, would of had a 2.0L K series with 210bhp but it was removed for a 160 lump with a few nice mods before it was sold of at auction when they went bust, has some rediculous brakes and lots of other one of bits. I did have a lovely old honda civic ed7 but i got a good price and sold it on.

Looking good Jonny ;) I can see what you mean about the panel gaps on the door! Are they the arc angel ones? Also what lock are you using on your boot-lid? I've given my project a quick update :)

Keep up the good work

I'd never have a normal mini again I can't deal with the vast amounts of rust!!!!ha ha. What do you mean the rear windows? I've gone to plastic for performance for my windows and have sent them a template for fixed rubber rear quarters.

don't have to remind me of rust mate, after each repair ive primed mine with ali/zinc primer to keep it away!

thats what i mean buddy, how much are they doing them for?, id cut some myself from the pile of perspex / polycarbonate at my dads work but i have opening windows and i want rid as there too easy to open! (and prob leak haha) so if its not major expensive its worth ordering a pair if it is ill buy glass ones off ebay

good luck with your build anyway, are we expecting you at MITP in it? :P

Well probably not due to lack of funds but you can monitor my progress in the 'mini scura minus' thread :)

In terms of plastic for performance it is expensive what I ordered coming to £160 just for the rear quarters, but they are E-marked so legal for me to put my minus through an IVA. I did make my own polycarbonate windows (before the law changed for putting a vehicle through an IVA) and to be honest its easy as long as you have another window to take the size from, you can cut polycarbonate with a jigsaw and it is a lot stronger than perspex.

Yea they are, im not to fussed. They were cheap and it shouldn't look to bad when its painted.

I've got boot pins on each corner. I did just want a mk1 handle but the bootlid wouldn't sit flat enough and needed pinning at each corner.
I still might fit the handle. I had a quick look at your update, its coming on fast now, the turrets are looking good, you did it completely different to the way i did it. In hindsight yours looks like a better way of doing it haha.

Is your roll cage fully done then now? If so it'd be good if you took a few photos for inspiration :)

No far from it! It's not even booked in yet. I need to get my seats fitted and my steering column in place so the guy that's doing it knows what clearances I need. The cage in it was a minus one I found on eBay cheap. I bought it to help reduce the cost of my cage so he has something to work from.

You not having your steering column connected to your rollcage then I presume? (i'm doing this as it makes it more rigid) I've still got a bunch of things I need doing before I can start piecing my cage together for tacking then welding solid I have also found a guy who will bend my door bars for me for the sum of £90 3mm thick CDS two 15degree bends in them (so dog legged). Think I will have the door bars black chromed when I have funds as its a bit more wearing than paint.

Im unsure, its all a bit confusing in that area! Not sure where my pedal box etc will be. I think it would be best to mount it to the cage to.
Black chrome does look amazing!

Got a nice thin sheet of carbon fibre to help finish of my doors. Not having door cards so just cutting some small bits off this to use to cover up the holes in the doors i used to fit the nuts on the back of the hinges and mount the lock.

Also got a battery box. Was going to mount this in the boot, now thinking behind the passenger seat would be nicer.

Nice battery box mate, i've got a varley one for mine. I'm going to have mine behind the drivers seat, due to fuel lines running on the other side of the cab.
I actually can't stand normal chrome and think it looks very tacky in my opinion but i think black chrome has a certain finesse about it. I intend to get my wheel nuts re plated in it too because the crappy zinc plating that is already on them is rubbish and they have started to rust even though they haven't seen the outside!! They are the ones from huddersfield spares which come with the 'super trax' (tuner wheel nuts). They look cool but like I say and they say on the website they will rust instantly!!

Have fun with your new bits Jonny
