it will be either on a par or worse. will definatly use more fuel than a HIF :/ i would definatly put a box in. even if its a diddy one and you get the shortest good manifold from maniflow it will be a huge improvement! comon, you cant build a beast like this and stick a swan neck on it! :D

Think i'll need a bigger fuel tank!

Maniflow do sell one that fits without mods. Think you've swung me though. Makes sense to do it properly really!

What size is yours at the moment?

Hang on...... O_O. XD

Maniflow do a 2 3/4' manifold, that should fit. And if there is any mods required then they will be minimal

Im using a 7' long one.... Big ole box :D

hahaha i know, definately not big enough, Its a little over 20L. I've changed my mind on it anyway and am planning on a new tank. The guy that i would like to do the cage makes alloy tanks so i'm probably going to get him to make one up the sits in the spare wheel probably get it up to around 30-40L. Very good prices to.

Yea that is the one i was just looking at.

The bigger the better ay!

not bad then, im trying to fit my ally tank, its mounted on the subframe at the back and on the body at the front... and im trying to fit a single metal panel for a boot floor with the hole in the right place... going to be fun! only a 5.5 galon one though, will be fitted with a weber aswell! >_< only a single choke one as its a 45 thats been modded but oh well! all in the name of originality!

that should work, will be TONNES better than a swan neck.. just burn that.

damn straight it is :proud:

Sounds like fun. That car will be awesome when its done though, real deal miglia!

Haha you really don't like them. I'll wait and see what its like. With my shell being lower i might have to have a box anyway as the shorter manifolds appear to raise the carb up higher into space that i don't have anyway.

thanks :)

thats a good point about the height / shell height. as for swan necks, i just cant see the point of going to the effort of fitting a weber then to go and fit a manifold which makes performance so bad that it would have been better just staying as it was and giving the engine a good service! so all you would get is alot more fuel used, no real gain.. its all down tried and tested on that janspeed video thats floating around to DV's yeller bible 8)

Yea i know what you mean. Maybe i'll just stick with the SU!

I've been reading the bible about SU manifolds and haven't actually looked at the Weber section on the subject. I'll have a read.

Well errmmmm i thought about this somewhat and decided that i'm going to stick with the SU (Sorry dodger ;D ). So while waiting on the new engine mounts I've ordered i did a few little bits to improve the SU.

Modified the butterfly bit. Gives a good increase in airflow.

Modified the MG metro inlet somewhat. If you've got the yellow bible you'll recognize all this.

Along with the ITG inlet it will be easily suitable in airflow for my engine spec. Although a webber would squeeze a little more out.

Looks good Jonny :) I think I will make something similar to that but in aluminium. Progress has ground down to a hault on mine at the moment, but hopefully I will pick up the pace in the New year.

Thanks Blue,

Yes, i will probably revisit it when its complete and go for alloy or just make this lighter. Would like to get it on the road for next summer and then slowly revisit little area's keeping the project ticking over making bits lighter etc.

I've noticed you are slacking.... ;)

cheers

Just drill some great big holes in the base, the glass over it. That way you'll get better adhesion as well.

Looking good Jonny boy.

Yea, will have to come out again though, for subframe mods and paint.
