Back to back updates blimey.

Got fed up on the roof so will come back to that. Did this earlier... dam cracks.

The cardboard is wrapped in selotape to help bridge the hole. Obviously comes of afterwards. Tape is a good release agent for fibreglass.

Nearly done. Just got to sand a few bits done and add a little more. may gelcoat the top.

Another recent buy. Snap-off steering boss.

Cheers!

Oh it's got rust ha. Just surface rust though :).

Keep check eBay and mini sites there's usually someone trying to sell one somewhere!

Cheers blue, the body works getting there slowly.

Ordered the bits from MED yesterday at 13:00 and they turned up today! Pretty good considering they had to build up the clutch/flywheel and balance it.

Its getting there slowly. One half is looking ok and not far of being paintable. Just trying to get it perfect is proving difficult. I also used a permenant marker to mark out any low spots and for some reasn the gelcoat didnt like it and reacted! I then had to rub it all back and start again on those bits haha.

I have a little bit of crazing on my shell actually like I think I did mention before. What do you have to do to go about ridding the body of it?

I have used the finger/power file and taken each crack right back. Depending on how bad the crack is depends how deep you need to go. On the majority of them i did not need to go any deeper than the gelcoat. A few bad ones went right into the fibreglass.

The deepest ones i used a little fibre filler to bring them back up and then i have used topcoat (gelcoat but with a wax added) up to the finished level. In some places i mixed a little filler in with the topcoat to make it easier to work as it is quite runny stuff.

The topcoat doesnt take long before it goes 'off' and soon becomes unworkable! I've got used to it now and have got my waste down to a minimum although i am already into my second kg of the stuff.

Had someone come round today to have a look at my shell to possibly paint it. Had a few quotes so far but this guy seemed to know what he was talking about with fibreglass. A nice step in the right direction!

A few pics....

Rear lights in, need to find some short bulbs to complete my lights. Notice the high brake light? (Its a FIA rain light, should help make my braking a little more noticable!)

Rear quater windows in.

Rear screen, need to do a little work as there is not enough lip for me to bolt in the top/bottom in one corner.

Grill on.
Cheers

Liking the update Jonny :) I love the innocent grill tedmced had one on his olive green minus. I wish they made my grill type in plastic. Just out of curiosity how much were you quoted for a spray job? Also with the windows if you did want to take an SVA they would roast you on them ( heads up).
Anyhow keep up the good work.

Thanks blue. Been working on it again today. Will pop a few pics up.

I've been quoted anywhere from £1000-£5000. The guy yesterday said from £2500 upwards depending on timescale how much i do etc.

A lot of money but i would like it to last.
