Well as above I have been using the car for getting to and from work. Had the odd hiccup but she's doing well so thought I would treat her too a few nice bits that would also make using the car daily a little nicer.

 

I have had the dash in my car for years but never been able to use the glove box as it never had a 'box' bit in it so crap just ended up on the floor or stuck behind the speedo. So bought my self a box. Needed trimming to fit but an afternoon work and it looks great!

 

 

I also got my mate to rewire the head unit wire as it shorted just before the MOT and I ended up with loads of smoke coming out from behind the dash. Not good. So he did that today and I treated my self to a new head unit. Got a DAB one so I can bust out Absolute Radio haha, also has bluetooth for my phone. 

 

That is about it for now and to be honest unless I find some cool wheels or some cheap bits I think that will be about it for a while. My mates sadly wrote his mini off a few month back so I bought all the panels off him he had to sort the rust. Some will be used on this. I also need a pair of doors and a front end so will buy those bits ready for the rebuild as and when I find them at a good price.

Small and boring update really.

 

With the new faces from roofless and some gauge refurbing from Ross I now have cream gauges in the dash holes.

 

 

 

I think it finishes the dash no nice although I think I may paint the bezels black.

 

and for no reason other then I was bored, I made this. Has made me really want to get some mk1 tail lights and boot lid on her now though. Also want to get a rear cage!

Well nothing exciting had happened. She broken down a few times and got a bit more rusty but she is still being (ab)used.

 

I picked these up at Brooklands this year.

 

I found a mk1 tail light for £2 which was a cheeky bargain so thought as I got that I may as well get the conversion plates.

 

 

I want some USA spec lenses as they are all red. I have all red mk2 lights on it as the moment that I tinted myself but I would just like a proper pair of mk1 ones. Until I do I used the spray on the lenes to see what it would come out like.

 

 

I took her up to Pride of Longbridge but before hand I thought she could do with  good clean. After reading some good reviews I tried some of the cheap demon shine snow foam from halfords. I was really pleased with it.

 

 

Here she is at POL. I had such a great time doing the convoy up as well.

 

 

shortly after that I took her to Wheels Day as well. Traffic getting in was a nightmare and I over heated but when I got in it was a great day.

 

 

While at POL I bought a set of wheel arches off a member on here.

 

 

I fitted one on and I can't decide if I want them painted white as before or to paint them black hummmm.

 

 

So then came up a few more shows. I went to a hot rod show in Beaconsfeild and to a car show local to me in Popham outside Basingstoke.

 

I picked up a pair of mk1 lights at a good price I am gonna paint them up black and tint the lenes.

Thats about it for now I think. I still have more bits coming for it and I am hoping to make it look slightly less scruffy for the IMM.

Cheers guys. I know what you mean with the tatty ness. It does not looks awful it just looks well used. If I don't sort the bits out thought it will end up totally rotten like my red one did. I won't be going full hog with a resto on it. Just a quick spruce up with the rust removed and a few little changes then someone in my mini club has said they will paint it for me. He did his own recently and the paint looks really good. Not concourse perfect but good enough to look smat with out being scared to use it. Also means I can help him do it and pick up a few more new skills at the same time.

 

Anyway I did L2B over the weekend as a passenger though. All I bought was a clubby front bumper. Its straight but not too shiny and hs a few marks sp perfect to be powder coated meaning I can keep my nice shiny one in the loft incase I ever want to go back to chrome.

Well I have not updated this for a while! 

 

I have still been using her every day! The body work has been getting even worse.

 

I took the arches off. They were odd colours and a couple of them were hanging off anyway.

 

Also my 2 front tyres were pretty much on the cord. So I stuck 2 cooper s steels on the front. As I want to get the sellers refurbed properly so didn't want to stick 2 new tyres on only to take them off again in a few weeks time.

 

So this is how she's looking. Pretty beat up now haha.

 

 

 

Anyway I have been getting a few bits up together so I can get her looking a bit tidier ready for next year.

 

I have decided that the wide arches have to go. I just don't really like them any more. So I am going with some Wood & Picket arches painted white.

 

Here are some old pics of a test fit I did a few years ago. I decided against them then but with the way the car is going I think they will suit the new look better.

 

 

 

Now I also picked the some mk1 lights and conversion plates a while back. Well while at the IMM I picked up some US spec red lenes.

 

 

I also bought all the gaskets for them. Should look epic when there fitted and the light units have been powder coated black.

 

I was so pleased with how tidy the hose in my red minis engine bay looked I bought one of these bulk head plate for the clubby in black this time.

 

 

Has a little mark on it so was cheaper then the others hence why I bought it. Not too fussed about that as the clubby is a daily so things will only get dirty and marked as its used.

 

So thats about it for the time being. Saving pennies for combe as I have a big shopping list wit panels I need to buy haha.
